Untitled
Over the past year-and-a-half, the duo of Dexter Brightman and Jair Espinoza have explored abstract electronics in increasingly new and interesting ways. Over the course of numerous tapes on labels such as Avant Archive, Neon Blossom, and others, the duo has combined the ideas of repetition and sound art and continually mutated them into something that is becoming increasingly difficult to pin down. With the recent “Tek No Muzik” 12” on Crazy Iris, mechanized acid was introduced in the mix. It i…
之 / Of
Tip! ** Edition of 500 140gm vinyl in a natural translucent colourway ** ‘’之 / Of is a word that can be used as a preposition to express the relationship between a part and a whole. It is an unfinished tone, a broken sentence, a start and a whole. It is sustainable, full of potentials and longings.’’ London based performance and sound artist Li Yilei shared an experience familiar to many migrants during the past year of Covid-19 chaos. With their UK visa set to expire, and family back in China, …
The Rest Is Silence – Music Of Our Time
*2025 stock* "Stefan Winter, head of the Winter & Winter boutique label, has a different attitude to popularising classical music. Rather than relying on the familiarity of old favourites, he believes that contemporary classical music is more accessible than its ascetic, atonal reputation suggests, and can find an audience outside its assumed intellectual elite. Hence this compilation of excerpts from the label's catalogue…" - The Independent"Winter & Winter is something of a special case when i…
Playback Play
*2025 stock* Famous for his examination of unusual and exotic instrumental sounds, here Mauricio Kagel focuses on the most mundane of sound materials. While attending a music trade show, Kagel was taken by the many levels and orbits of sound activity emanating from the various booths and stages. In 'Playback Play' (subtitled 'News from the Music Fair, A Radio Piece') he has arranged a spatially sensitive tableau of crowd noises, sales pitches and fragments of the sort one hears in music store sh…
Gongs Of The Bahnar: A Buffalo Sacrifice Ceremony
The Buffalo sacrifice is a significant ritual among the Bahnar people, an ethnic group residing in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. It symbolizes a connection to ancestral spirits and the natural world. Prior to the sacrifice, the community gathers to prepare offerings and adorn the buffalo with symbolic decorations. The ceremony typically involves prayers, chants, and dances led by village elders. The sacrifice is performed with reverence and gratitude, honoring the buffalo's sacrifice for the…

European Jazz Sounds
The few recordings made by the Modern Jazz Group, based in Freiburg, Germany, are scarcely documented. The MJGF was founded around 1954 by pianist Ewald "Waldi" Heidepriem, one of the pioneers of modern jazz in Germany in the 1950s. The music of the Modern Jazz Group Freiburg was truly excellent. Even today it sounds incredibly modern and energetic. This release documents a wonderful chapter of German jazz history. European modern jazz at its finest! Vinyl-edition.
Fluvius
*250 copies limited edition* Fluvius is a conceptual album about water and its importance, in the form of rivers, in the birth and development of great civilizations throughout history. Civilizations that have worshiped water as a source of life to respect, care for, venerate, and fear. A work that probably surpasses everything that these two usual suspects of the label have previously produced - Hari Sima released "Fluido Tiempo" on Abstrakce and Mínim is a member of Mecánica Clásica -. Contemp…
El Pasaje Del Aumento
*300 copies limited edition. In process of stocking* "El Pasaje del Aumento" is a collection of syncopated rhythms for hypnotic slow dance. An accident of oppressive atmospheres with a humorous sense of rhythm and composition, which moves between downtempo, African rhythms and dub. With a certain oriental softness, it introduces you into a state of enchantment, spell... a hypnotic and mysterious restlessness, almost uncomfortable. Sentuhlà squeezes his Yamaha Rm1x on this second album, creating …

Les Liaisons Dangereuses
The music presented here, composed and conducted by Duke Jordan, is an important jazz work. Duke Jordan was known as Charlie Parker's pianist, and his solo recordings revealed an original form in music, a genius pianist and composer. Jordan's original music for 'Les Liaisons Dangereuses' was recorded in 1959, featuring Art Taylor and Charlie Rouse, two members of Duke's group. With these recordings Duke Jordan clearly announced the dawning of a new era in jazz. This reissue comes with newly rema…
NDR Jazz Workshop No. 25
National and international jazz musicians were invited to the NDR for the Jazz Workshop series. A number of ten to twenty musicians could rehearse for some days and finally present their results to the North German listeners in a live studio concert. The organizer focused on offering some space for experimenting to different musicians who otherwise would never have played together, and to free them from their daily commercial pressures within that period of time. Even though all predominant jazz…
All The Duos
Tip! Orb Tapes presents “All The Duos,” a brand new collection of collaborative pieces featuring Maria Chavez and Sandy Ewen. A colossal effort, this double CD release contains over 90 minutes of music and showcases the improvisational prowess of both artists. Taking their instruments past the point of recognizability, each has a knack for coaxing unpredictable yet beautiful sounds from her equipment – turntables and guitars treated in utterly novel ways. Now based in Brooklyn, Chavez and Ewen h…
Transmissions From The Radio Midnight
Tip! *200 copies limited edition* This project, entitled Transmissions From The Radio Midnight, started around 2006, when I acquired a Sony TCM F59 — an AM/FM radio and cassette recorder combined in a slim, handheld body. Since then, whenever I went on a trip, I would throw it into my suitcase and take it around with me. No matter which country I was in, upon returning to the hotel room I made a habit of listening to the radio into the late hours of the night. As soon as I would snuggle into bed…
Clamor
*2024 stock* Clamor rethinks the notion of 'women's work' as a space for both collaboration and singular voice. Just as our ensemble is limited and enabled by the written score, so might be individual enunciations of how gender norms limit agency. Clamor utilizes a collective, improvisational vision that prioritizes an intentionally fluid style by employing indeterminacy, navigated by the performers via time-based scores. These principles are balanced with metered notation to shape the overall f…
Schizo
Pianist Berndt Egerbladh was a prolific writer with considerable talents, who also recorded with Lars Lystedt. The three musicians in this trio (Egerbladh, Björn Alke and Sten Ödberg) were all on the same wavelength and able to change between different musical moods. This is a remastered vinyl reissue of a 1964 recording, issued in an edition of 500 LP's.
Our telluric conversation
'23five Incorporated proudly presents Our Telluric Conversation - the second collaborative album from John Duncan and Carl Michael von Hausswolff. This is an album which Duncan describes as having been galvanized by magnetism. In a semantic sleight of hand, Duncan and Hausswolff reveal magnetism through a duality of meanings. One on hand, they speak of the physical phenomenon of charged objects that exert an attraction or repulsion upon other objects; yet on the other, magnetism can be defined t…
More Modern At The German Jazz Festival 1966
An incredible meeting of talents – both American and European jazz musicians coming together at a festival that must have been one hell of a event – certainly more exciting than just about any jazz festival we've ever attended in our lifetime! Unlike other festival recordings, this isn't just any sort of rehash of standards, done by all-star groups – and instead showcases some of the best modern jazz talents on both sides of the Atlantic in the mid 60s – all trying to outdo each other with their…
European Jazz Sounds
The 'European Jazz Sounds' series, that started around 1960 with legendary albums by the Michael Naura Quintet, Tubby Hayes and Max Greger, sees a welcome revival! This first volume presents the early recordings of the renowned Joki Freund Quintet from the late 1950s. German saxophonist and arranger Joki Freund played with Jutta Hipp in the mid-'50s, before forming his own Joki Freund Quintet. During the late '50s they played various European festivals, together with visiting American musicians …
