Vertonen is the work of Blake Edwards, a veteran of the chicago noise and experimental scene. with close to 100 releases many of them published through his own crippled intellect productions and ballast imprints spread over several decades, edwards has finetuned his craft of cryptically inclined, electronic invocations that might channel the raw brutality of industrial machinery or the existential claustrophobia of a submariner's voyage nearing its untimely end. there are numerous aesthetic face…
Tip! 580 Pages. An anthology that traces the long legacy of interdisciplinary experimentations at the intersection of walking, listening, and soundmaking.Since the 1960s, the act of walking has provided a way for artists and musicians to escape the formality of the concert hall or institutional venue, engaging with shifting public spaces, natural environments, and the social and political sphere. Walking redefines notions of composer, performer, public, and music itself, while opening new modes …
Hardcover Book + CD, published by Dortmunder Kunstverein Und Hartware MedienKunstVerein - Thomas Köner's Pneuma Monoxyd uncovers fluctuations and invisible border crossings that constitute any moment. *200 copies limited edition* Music composed in resonance with Orlando di Lasso’s ‘Prophetiae Sibyllarum’ (ca 1555-60). The Sibylline Prophecies are a 16th century collection of vocal motets that could be considered prophetic, because they open up the music of its time to chromaticism beyond diatonality, posing new challenges to tuning. On the other hand, the sung text is an unambiguous appropriation of ancient Greek Sibylline oracles, claiming these predicted the coming of Christ —a fictional re…
*200 copies limited edition* Australia-based baroque violinist Lizzy Welsh has recorded three new compositions for solo baroque violin—the astounding result of a decade-long process of commissioning repertoire of such work during her doctoral research. Each of the works on « The Target Has Disappeared » initiates an intimate conversation between Welsh and her instrument, outlining the contours of memory and loss, weaving together fragments of old and new traditions in the sound of gut strings.

2015 repress and remastered. Remastered CD edition of Une éclipse totale de soleil, Ghédalia Tazartès' third LP, originally released in 1984. Far away from contemporary music intellectualisms and the works of synthetic noise purists, this album features a new form of musical expression and is certainly one of the most original and creative records of the '80s. The value of this work was at the time underestimated and only a few people had a chance to listen to this beautiful music. The rec…
Brighton's Map 71 are a duo comprised of Andy Pyne (percussion, electronics) and Lisa Jayne (words, voice). Together they have been working away at an approach that draws from post-punk, improvisation, electronics, and other such realms of music to create a refreshing environment where reflection, wry observations, the abstract, and immersion can develop. They have existed for a few years now and had several releases out both on their own Foolproof Projects imprint and via a couple of other labe…
Obscure 1970's French underground band cantered around Robert Diaz and Florence Leroy. Other members have included Armand Miralles and Kristof Temple. Feeling like a mix of Etron Fou Leloublan and Faust (in acoustic mode that is), with hints of Albert Marcoeur, Red Noise, it is full of invention and typically French eccentric touches. It was also much touted by Chris Cutler (of Henry Cow fame) at the time as the French Faust.Double CD retrospective of this amazing « mysterious » underground Fren…
Veteran experimentalist, Marcia Bassett, returns with "Midnight Xpander", easily one of the most exciting entries into the field of drone and contemporary minimalism that we've encountered in a good while. Predominantly recorded with a Buchla 200 system at EMS in Stockholm, Sweden, and imbued with abstraction and the bristling tension of punk and noise, its subtle structures and intertwining harmonics immerse the mind in a deeply organic, hallucinatory realm that places Bassett at forefront of t…
Tristan Disco was an ephemeral Japanese project led by Takayuki Shiraishi (BGM, who released material on the Japanese experimental label Vanity Records, MLD) and focused on making dub-influenced Post-Punk. In 1982 they elaborate a no-wave full of unrehearsed breaks and cavernous vocals. Boundless dark jamming sessions through shades, effects and reverbs always submerged by a tense nervous bassline. On the B side Krikor delivers a hard-hitting Industrial reconstruction of "Social Dance" perfect t…

Composer, multi-instrumentalist and mixed-media artist, Takehisa Kosugi has stood on the forefront of the Japanese avant-garde for over six decades. In the 1960s, he was part of Japan’s first improvisational music collective, Group Ongaku, and contributed to Fluxus in New York. In 1969, he founded the influential, experimental ensemble The Taj Mahal Travellers, and in 1975 he would release his first solo album, Catch-Wave. “Mano-Dharma ‘74” features improvised violin drones and voice with vario…
Christina Vantzou and John Also Bennett return with Κλίμα (Klima), their third album as CV & JAB. Using an extensive sound genealogy including piano, flute, voice, and field recordings, the duo dive deeper into their idiosyncratic collaborative language. A reflection on microclimates and their ecologies, Κλίμα (Klima) is an invitation to probe the implicit memories of animal, plant and place, and our connection to the environments we inhabit.
**CD version** With his first solo album, which was originally released in 1974, Manuel Gottsching (Ash Ra Tempel) laid the foundation for many other upcoming works. In fact, the guitar was invented here, for his play on the three epic tracks are years ahead of its time: Circular, flat, layered loops and improvisations create a compelling, hypnotic atmosphere and make this album in retrospect a landmark of new guitar culture. The album was completely remastered by Manuel Gottsching himself and i…
Handmade Paper Pipe is the collaborative project of Danish improviser Claus Haxholm and eclectic Italian sound-maker Renato Grieco. These two set pieces are the result of mutual manipulation of each other's voices and archival materials. Not many words were spoken during the process and the result covers a many topoi of modern experimental palette and noteworthy is the presence of low frequencies that sometimes even touch the territories of a hypothetical abstract vocal dub.
Tip! "Feldman's last composition, Piano, Violin, Viola, Cello, was completed in 1987; although its instrumentation largely corresponds to that of Piano and String Quartet, with one instead of two violins, it differs in almost every other respect from the composition written only two years earlier, for here, in contrast to Piano and String Quartet, Feldman makes every effort to integrate the piano into the string section, and the basic formal components of the composition are no longer staves, as…
