Strummmmminggg for Stringggggsss N Thingggggsss is a reworking of Charlemagne Palestine’s venerable Strumming Music from the early 70s. If you’re familiar with the string ensemble version of the piece included on the Sub Rosa reissue Strumming Music then you will not be fully prepared for this. Palestine begins solo, keening in falsetto over rubbed glasses; the strings come in lower pitched, with cellos and basses augmenting the violins. The heavier texture, with Palestine’s singing, creates a r…
30 Meters Stretch is an extension of a series of works, correspondingly titled 500 Meters Stretch, 480 Meters Stretch and so on, by Seiji Morimoto, a Japanese sound artist based in Berlin. It consists of a spool of 30 meters long, 5 cm wide, lightweight fabric, to be stretched out between trees or poles in any open space. As these long lines wave, rattle and flutter according to the wind, they make air both visible and audible.
The object’s aim is to bring the listening experience outside the a…
* Strictly limited edition of 500 audiophile copies on black vinyl. * Led by pianist Svein Finnerud, “Thoughts” is the trio´s deepest, darkest, most personal and reflective album, and in our ears their finest hour on record. The original is quite rare now, selling for very good money on the secondhand market. Something of a forgotten treasure (as it indeed was for 11 years), this re-issue is long overdue and comes in a strictly limited edition of 500 copies. The original sleeve design has been p…
** To be released in October. 2021 re-issue, 140g vinyl, remastered from the original analogue tapes ** What an unbelievable record. From the wild cover to the iconic breakbeats, Roots from Ian Carr’s Nucleus is one of the dopest albums we know. This is seriously thick, funky-prog jazz-rock heaven. Originally released on Vertigo in 1973, other than a couple of versions at the time for other territories, Roots was never re-pressed since so it’s gone on to become another one of those impossible to…
Tip! An homage to the wildlife and mountain people of Benedicte Maurseth’s home area in Hardanger . The acclaimed and innovative visionary musician Benedicte Maurseth is coming forth with the wonderful all-consuming album Hárr. The sound of her magic Hardanger fiddle is woven seamlessly together with that of birds and the other musicians’ musical impressions. Always moving forward with a steely calm disposition, the record draws you into a world where one feels to be one with nature, wandering o…
Released way back in 1974, the lone, self-titled effort from Spirale is an album notable for its lack of electronic instruments. It also has some of those loveable low-budget production flaws that are so often heard in obscure 1970s Italian progressive music, and the bass quite often seems charmingly out-of-tune. But this was an earnest and quite energetic jazz-rock ensemble excursion, with excellent brass arrangements and improvisation. Other instruments used include violin, drums, piano and va…
A rare pearl of Hungarian experimental music, Tibor Szemzo’s sublime debut album Snapshot From The Island [1987] is widely regarded as one of the best ambient & minimalist music of the time. Remastered from the original tapes, limited edition
Mental Experience present an expanded reissue and the first ever vinyl reissue of The Momes' Spiralling, originally released in 1989 on the Woof label. Featuring Tim Hodgkinson (Henry Cow, The Work) on Hawaiian laptop noisy guitar and keyboards, Mick Hobbs (Family Fodder, The Work, Officer!) on bass, and Andy Wake (Unrest, Work & Play) on drums, The Momes were a unique power trio with an abrasive sound channeling post-punk, psych-prog, and avant-rock. Spiralling is their sole album, recorded at …
Master of the fuzz saz, Turkey's answer to Eric Clapton brings his burly axe attacks to the snaky folk melodies of Anatolia. Long-proven to cause just the brain-rot you're looking for, here's a Koray collection of tracks taken from singles and LPs for your acid-drenched pleasure. The guitar slinger who was once stabbed for wearing his hair too long around the streets of Istanbul interweaves melodies as old as the ruins of Ephesus with the riffs of Black Sabbath and his own souped-up bağlama…
“Divine music is a curative virtue; it is a gift from God that brings healing and comfort to the soul. This music can uplift one’s spirit up to a higher dimension of being that is filled with peace and joy. Divine music is the sound of true life, wisdom, and bliss. This music transcends geographical boundaries, language barriers, age factors; and whether educated or uneducated, it reaches deep into the heart and soul, sacred and holy, like an Infinite sound of glory entering the Lord’s sanctuary…
Black Truffle is thrilled to announce Drumming Up Trouble, the first release of previously unissued music by Alvin Curran on the label. Collecting works recorded between 2018-2021 and a side-long epic dating back to the early 80s, as the title suggests, Drumming Up Trouble focuses on a hitherto almost unknown aspect of Curran’s encyclopaedic and omnivorous musical world: his experiments with sampled and synthesised percussion. As Curran’s wonderful, wildly sweeping liner notes make clear, his fa…
Following on from the excellent "Scene In Mirage" reissue that broke O Yuki Conjugate to a whole new crowd, Emotional Rescue return to the archives of the over-looked Nottingham "dirty ambient" outfit. Their second LP "Into Dark Water", originally released in 1987, is just as powerful as the first - a hypnagogic journey fuelled by a global stew of sound, feeding into elegant, evocative pieces. Fans of classic Jon Hassell will find much to enjoy here, but equally those appreciating the exotic pos…
»Hoya«, the first collaborative record from Fhunyue Gao and Sven Kacirek, is a site of encounters. There’s the encounter between two different media and artistic conceptions: Gao, on the one hand, a stage director | performer | musician based in Switzerland, a frequent collaborator of Annalena Fröhlich’s, Thom Luz’s and many others, who works for a most colourful variety of venues all over Europe and is a member of the music association Bongo Joe. Kacirek, on the other, an established musician l…
*Limited edition of 500 copies.* ”Krökta Tankar Och Brända Vanor” is the first proper release by Gothenburg’s Amateur Hour since 2019’s ”Framtiden Tillhör Inte Oss”. This album stays true to the Amateur Hour formula, a mix of dreamy indie pop and harsh industrial soundscapes, all held together with w…

Shelter Press and INA grm are pleased and moved to present two previously unreleased recordings of Peter Rehberg, two live performances given at the GRM which, each in their own way, vividly illustrate the extent of his sonic palette. On 22 July 2021, Peter Rehberg passed away, leaving a great emptiness in his wake. Many initiatives have already celebrated or will soon celebrate his memory and the titanic work he put at the service of so many artists - a whole musical community, in fact - throu…

* 2021 restock, killer price. Last copies * LP 180 Gram. Black vinyl edition. Franco Micalizzi, during the seventies a part from his classic works, has taken part and made the soundtrack also for erotic movies. One of them is Adolescenza Perversa. The two sexy characters of the movie ( Femi Benussi and Marisa Longo) move to the rhythm of wonderful orchestrations, beat scratches, persuasive tunes and the funky beat, a real trademark of the roman composer.
"Gorgeous live debut LP by an extremely flexible quartet put together by Vancouver based string-monster, Gordon Grdina. Grdina plays both electric guitar and oud. His guitar work here recalls a couple of very different players -- the clean angular scramble of Boston's Joe Morris, and also the more lyrical passages played by the master of power-distortion, Sonny Sharrock. On oud (an instrument most often associated with traditional music of Northern African and Western Asia) he creates a new appr…
