Essential collection from this strange and obscure early 80s electronic noise project."One-man industrial outfit, Deviation Social left a scar on the face of the American 80′s experimental/noise scene that has mysteriously been left to legend and rumor. Dais previously released the first authorized reissue of Deviation Social's compilation tracks dating back from the early '80s. Here within, Volume 2 compiles the two proper 'studio' releases of Deviation Social's checkered past. The destruct…
"Ryan Garbes is the drummer of Iowa City bands such as Wet Hair, Dunebuggy, Trash Dog, and formerly Raccoo-oo-oon. His recordings under his own name represent a unique brand of solo multi-track recording with a seamless integrity; through a skillful use of instrumentation and recording technique, Garbes eschews notions of low fidelity for songs reminiscent of traditional American garage rock produced in the haze of an early '90s UK aesthetic. Genuine pop songs, cloaked in a comforting was…
Split release between Kevin Doria's Total Life (Growing) and Deceh (Eleh/Srines), pressed in an edition of 500 copies and housed in deluxe 2 color screen printed, heavy duty jackets. Kevin Doria's work as Total Life precedes his work done as half of the group Growing, and is continuously evolving; this contributed track, Fader, is no exception. Deceh's contribution is an extended harmonic magnification of a shruti box, Hammond organ, upright double bass & modular synthesizer.

Awesome shimmery concept record about the foamy sea "Kye is proud to present the long-awaited new LP by Folkestone's Call Back the Giants. The Marianne takes the questing, narrative themes last heard on The Rising LP (2011) and Incidents of Travel EP (2012) and extrapolates them into a three-part conceptual odyssey. Set aboard the cruise liner of the same name, The Marianne charts the epic voyage of Capt Fletcher and his patrons as they passage across the 'sour ocean,' through a prism of supern…
In the summer of 2011, I wrote to Francisco López to ask him whether he would be interested in working together on a project. He agreed but on condition that we worked on two separate tracks but using the same sound sources. These sound sources could be processed any way we liked, or even used in their original form, so as to highlight the aural roots of the tracks while at the same time exposing our different sonic approach. LUCA SIGURTÀ The end result is a split album comprised of …
When does modern composition become drone?  When the original elements are sunk into a sea of strings, brass and electronics, as they are on this evocative split release.  Each of the artists composes, but in a modern fashion, either by manipulating source elements or by rearranging them to make a different sort of sense.  Both pieces are based on recordings of the Antonio Lomatto choir, conducted by Davide Mainetti.  The phantoms of these recordings remain, spectral yet in…
New Series Framework is an extension of Sub Rosa's Concrete Electronics Noise, a mix-up of unusual conceptions of sound material by young unknown composers, well-known not-so-young composers and old but clever composers. Limited editions. For Lith, Francisco López and Aernoudt Jacobs shared their original sound recordings from the Brazilian Amazon, Mexico, and the UK and created four compositions with each other's recordings. Francisco López is internationally-recognized as one of the majo…
This is #12 in Sub Rosa's limited edition Framework series -- an extension of their Concrete Electronics Noise series. Antimatter is the sound work of Xopher Davidson -- an ongoing exploration into the material of sound. Xopher builds his experiments in electronic sound from a basis in painting, photography, and film, and through an interest in electronic circuits going back to building radios and homemade circuits as a kid. Over the last 11 years he has built and explored the sound world of…
DOUBLE CD EDITION: For the second time in 20 years Charlemagne Palestine and Z'ev performed together, and this was the first time they recorded it. Part of the Sub Rosa/Laboratoire Central sessions, this is unreleased material from Charlemagne's lair -- a place now called "Charleworld," where both fellows spent three days in June 2010. "I first started to play the bells while at a high school for music and art in the '60s at St. Thomas Church across the street from the Museum of Modern Art…
Red vinyl edition, limited 250 copies. to Sub Rosa presents two substantial pieces from electro-acoustic musique concrete innovator Luc Ferrari: "Programme commun pour clavecin et bande magnetique" (1972), performed by Elisabeth Chojnacka, and another previously-unreleased piece that he held dear: "Les emois d'Aphrodite" (1986/1998), performed by San Francisco's MC Band under his direction. "'Programme commun...': Although cheerful, this piece of music asks a serious question: can one separate …
These seven volumes represent a strong listening base, as incomplete as it may be, the basis for a near-infinite exploration through one's self, in the present tense. All in all, if I add up all these tracks, there are 176 of them, created between 1921 and 2012, for a total of almost 18 hours of music. The sphere of geographical propagation was kind of programmed at the start (between 1952 and 1970 there have been over one hundred national studios, mostly tied to radio, on all five continents), b…
COH is the moniker used by Ivan Pavlov from Russia for more than a decade. COH is also the Russian word for 'sleep'. Yet, do not be deceived - RETRO-2038 is much more of a deep space than a deep sleep. The second COH release on Editions Mego is a true delight to behold, inviting as it does its exploration of electronic sound in minimalism, futuristic pop and the uncharted territories inbetween. Ranging from digital updates of Giorgio Moroder's pulse experiments to menacing lingering LF to…

Seitz Versus Gendreau is a collaborative experiment in using concrete music compositional strategies. These pieces were composed with created and found sound captured in San Francisco. 'Chorus After Rains': A strategy where we each use the same raw sound clips with different results. The two pieces are then melded to create one piece of music, the different modules becoming inseparable from each other. 'Things Lost That Will Never Be Found': A composition with live instruments, moving fro…
The audio on this LP was inspired by early efforts to explore extreme locations on earth, and the clash between the will of humans, the limits of their bodies, and the immutable laws of the natural world - the latter which can easily destroy both of the first two. The 11° 22.4'N 142° 35.5'E side is based on the 1960 dive by Jacques Piccard and Don Walsh in the bathyscaphe Trieste to the Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench, the deepest known point on earth. This side aims to mirror the …
