Here's Sunshine
This is another lost private-press gem, from a Texas singer/songwriter who is remembered for “looping, melodically through often surrealist lyrics with a strong Tim Buckley influence.” Another description drops the always-intriguing “downer” folk tag on this record, calling it “stark, edgy real-people loner vibe, reverb, acoustic instrumentation, occasional hand percussion, piano, harmonica, as that off-the-chain Texas feel that approaches solo Roky Erickson territory.” The record label, Backbea…
Only
Pieces by John Cage, Morton Feldman, Hanns Eisler, Giacinto Scelsi, György Kurtag, Frederic Rzewski, Henri Pousseur, Théodore Botrel, Rudolf Siecynski, and Sephardic songs. Performed/interpreted by vocalist Marianne Pousseur. "I like to listen to music in places that haven't been designed for it. I like when music mixes in with noise. Only came from a very personal desire to open the doors of my musical world to the concreteness of daily life, to tear down the fictional barriers between places a…
The Great White Silence
As a soundtrack, The Great White Silence probably exceeded everyone's highest expectations, as it manages to be sublime and deeply emotionally resonant without ever becoming too forceful.  In fact, it may very well be a masterpiece, though I won't know for certain until the film gets a US release.  As a decontextualized album, it is a bit flawed solely because it has been removed from its intended purpose as part of a larger whole.  There are a number of passages that I absolutely love, but they…
Decimus 3

Frolic Architecture
*Dense drones embedded with stuttering, spitted fragments of poetry. very abstract and oblique but engaging.* "The third collaboration from poet Howe and musician Grubbs. A soundworld that germinates wildly from this most multiple and heterogenous of Howe's poems. Real-performance of the fragment-strewn text is subject to Grubbs' further deformations, scattering and layerings."Frolic Architecture is the third collaboration from poet Susan Howe and musician David Grubbs. It follows Souls of the …

Has done a bunch of tapes & singles for Florida is Dying, Hozac, & Jerkwave. A more minimal, darker, atmospheric vibe prevails here that hints a bit more towards loner psychedelic guitar & improv than any prior recordings have. Still present is the punchy, noisy psychedelic synth punk, but its fused w/ an almost otherworldy sound, something really eclectic & unknown.
Lost wisdom
The music of Mount Eerie has taken many forms (see: The Microphones) but it is always made by Phil Elverum.  Lost Wisdom is an album that finds Elverum in a more collaborative mode than usual, working with two legends of music and kindred spirits, Julie Doiron and Fred Squire.  Elverum and Doiron share vocal duties almost equally on the record, making it an album comprised of dark pop duets. This time the songs were recorded quickly and quietly during a surprise visit by Julie Doiron, keeper of t…

A Guide To Healing
''If you dive into the Ganges River - the purest water on earth according to the Hindus, the most polluted and unhealthy according to science - hold your breath and open your ears, this music is what you'll hear.''
Sugarmorphoses
Made in 1974 by P.Orridge in COUM’s Hull commune/headquarters, The Ho Ho Funhouse, it’s comprised of scratchy recordings of the young actionist improvising on piano and messing around on reel-to-reel with years of accumulated field recordings and homework dictations (This recording consists of Genesis's candid kitchen recordings of solo broken piano improvisations accompanied by P-Orridge's own reel to reel experiments using old tape dating back to 1965, from which a young Neil Megson made co…
Awakening
Long out-of-print cassette originally released on Sloow Tapes (Belgium) in an edition of 70 with hand colored inserts. Cassette sold out within a week and has become quite collectible. Recorded after Expo '70 played France in 2008, just weeks after the IAO festival where the label owner and musician met. Upon returning to the states, the experience spawned the 2 day recording session materializing these 2 improvised tracks with no overdubs. Both tracks begin with rhythmic beats and slowly …
Dogs Blood Rising
Dogs Blood Rising is Current 93's seminal second album. It's been returned to its original formats of five tracks, and has been beautifully re-mastered by Denis Blackham. This reissue comes with a booklet with early photographs of the group members-- who included David Tibet, Steven Stapleton (Nurse With Wound), and Steve Ignorant (Crass)-- and original insert materials.
Glacial glow
LP version. 'Sarah Lipstate is Noveller and Glacial Glow is her most assured, accomplished statement to date. Lipstate largely sheds the distortion and feedback present in much of her earlier work. Instead, she relies on instantly memorable melodies, a wider sonic palette, and excellent pacing to deliver arguably her best album. Noveller announces her intentions from the opening track, appropriately titled Entering, as the syncopated rhythm of the melody represents a new twist from her pr…
Miaux
"warm thick tears force their ways out of droopy eyes, children cover their ears and peppep is rubbing his underbelly with sandpaper.the general gloom MIAUX spreads on her sandwiches is darker than tatort and could easily replace any soundtrack of a fassbinder movie, the sad joy of a lady from sarajevo pushing her entire hands into a keyboard, don't ask her for a encore or you'll receive a grim reward!it seems that a new breath of electronic music is blowing over antwerp, all in a sort of kubin/…
myland and lion
"the future is neon purple, and sunglasses are a non stop necessity when this buzzing love duo is oozing by! the only married newsteam, younger than lamonte younger (luke younger's son), we're forced to make our upper body's wet, do some push ups and train all our fingers! luckily we got 10 extra toes, we WILL need them to compete with the echoed skills of MITTLAND OCH LEO! exotica is usually more near than you'de expect, maybe even across the road, or at least across the gaza strip! time to…
five tracks 1991 - 1993
"one of the earliest cdr's on ultra eczema was a Bob & Lou cdr, which were also recordings from the 90's, and which, together with discovering the insane recorded archive of cassis cornuta, sparkled the idea of collecting and publishing the lost recordings of these belgian weirdo's! Bob & Lou is the pseudonym for the duo field recording / electro-acoustic synth project that Peter De Ceulaer and Luther Vanhoof started in the late 80's. They never played live as Bob & Lou although both of them als…
The Bird And The Giant
restocked: Swedish percussionist Erik Carlsson in a solo work using multi-tracking to create a set of composition ranging from ominous environments to quirky abstractions, an excellent collection of modern percussion pieces. "This is a fine album of carefully constructed, but also somehow partly unconsidered works by a finely talented musician. The six pieces each make clear musical statements, separate to one another and yet they form a well rounded, nicely balanced suite when brought tog…
Suite The Hen's Teeth
*Exquisite black and silver silk screen printed cover. Limited edition** Oh man, this match-up must be a dream come true for at least a handful of freaks, somewhere, us included! The tenth release on Jozef Van Wissem's Incunabulum imprint sees the label curator jamming with LAFMS legends, Smegma at the Pink House in Portland, 2010, infusing his 13-course swan neck baroque lute into their uncontainable free improvisations in eight parts. They appear to be entirely respectful of each others space,…
White Nights/Drone Fields
Aidan Baker's anodyne ambiences almost act as aural dream machines on their own. But now Baker has collaborated with actual film makers for his Opus Dei, embodied in this double DVD set (one credited as Aidan Baker and the other to Nadja). Clocking in at nearly 6 hours, this in-home installation is the ultimate video aquarium for the acid-minded. Baker's thrum-scapes lay back and patiently coo mantras something akin to mid-period Nocturnal Emissions or Vidna Obmana, while spectacular visions wen…
