Pétrole
A musique concrète composition, produced between 2007 and 2009. Pétrole features contributions from Dominique Repecaud (electric guitars) and Axel Dörner (trumpet) alongside the esoteric talents of Bertrand Sinapi (the whistler), Rocco Calaudi (Harley Davidson conductor), Kinuko HIGASHI (whip) and Yuko HIGASHI (Citroen CX 2000) amongst others. Punani Rubberist
First edition of 300 copies. 'Punani Rubberist is a new composition for computer, bass clarinet and gas horn. The CD includes remixes by Kazumoto Endo, eRikm, and Joe Gilmore, and an additional unreleased solo computer composition (Excelsior Punani) from 2003. He plucked a hair from his body, chewed it up, spat it out, made the magic with his fist, said the words of the spell, and shouted 'Change!'. It turned into hundreds and thousands of little monkeys, who rushed wildly about grabbing weapons…
Time Building
I started making music in earnest in 1994 with a Casio keyboard and a four-track cassette recorder. Since 1996 I have been using a Korg MS10 analogue synthesiser and some effects pedals which I have added over time Ñ delays, phasers, a ring modulator and a pattern generator. Occasionally I use acoustic sounds as well. On this LP, I made extensive use of a pattern generator (a Moog Murf) in combination with other effects. Secede
These recordings were made as part of a proposed file-sharing collaboration with Austrian sound artist Helmut Schfer. The recordings were abandoned after Schfer's death in April 2007 but largely due to his original interest and enthusiasm, newly-recorded sections were added, with the final edits and mix completed later that year. Composed between November 2006 and June 2007 by Jos Smolders (Tilburg, The Netherlands), Christopher McFall (Kansas City, USA), and Sascha Neudeck (Vienna, Austria). The composers have never met in person; all the material for this release was exchanged digitally. Mastered at EARLabs, Tilburg, 2008. The first collaboration was between Jos and Christopher.
