*2024 stock* "On the night of December 18, 2021, Mamer and his newly formed psychedelic folk band Mask were about to record a live album at Shenzhen B10 Live, a few audiences were invited. Before the recording, Mamer improvised on sherter for nearly 40 minutes. This album was therefore born. Xêrtêrmin / Sherter Solo may be, or should be the world’s first sherter solo album—although we don’t want to overemphasize it for the sake of sales. Most of the time, this ancient Kazakh instrument is used a…
*2024 stock* "The antennas that grow in your ears and hide in my head. In 2019, Dan and Li's live performance at the OCT-LOFT International Jazz Festival of their album "Mutually Chanting Cipher" was a stroke of genius, and the two of them put together a memorable performance with little advance communication.
In November 2021, Dan traveled to Yunnan to meet Li with Tang. In Dali, they experimented with a wide range of compositions, from acoustic to plugged-in instruments, from Chinese to Wester…
*2024 stock* "This is one of the many solo albums that Mamer completed in 2013. At that time Mamer's desire to create erupted like a volcano. I remember that bookstores had just released his solo albums "Stars" and "Cycles", as well as IZ's "Echoes"; many fans were slowly accepting music like IZ's "Shadows", and some people started to talk about the expansion and "revolutionization" of folk instrumentation on "Stars", while Mamer was already immersed in another world.
One day he handed me a bun…

*30 copies limited edition. Professionally dubbed cassette* “Cosmolinea” is a journey that begins in the dark. Initially conceived as a physical space in which to find rest, it transforms into a place in which to change, learn, heal. Musically the EP is as intense as its abstract conception, a mixture of ambient soundscapes, shoegaze and glitchy IDM with the add of dubby sequences.
AFM is the project of Alessandro Gramaccioni, producer, sound designer and composer focused on researching and conv…
*50 copies edition* "Three of Europe's most acclimated and proven improvisers—pianist Robert Mitchell (Steve Coleman, Greg Osby), bassist Neil Charles, and drummer/percussionist Mark Sanders (Jah Wobble, Rachel Musson)—band together as The Flame for the first time and emerge from pandemic isolation, and the forever wars and broken civics that accompanied it, with a hypnotic performance captured absolutely live on Towards the Flame.
Recorded at London's Cafe Otto in February of 2022, The Flame co…
*100 copies edition* The story of Room 31 began when drummer Marlon Patton and saxophonist Greg Sinibaldi first crossed paths while playing in the band Kenosha Kid back in 2008. The two formed an instant connection, and fate brought them together again when they both relocated to New York City in 2019. Sharing a practice space, they embarked on a musical journey that would lead to the birth of Room 31. Inspired by their surroundings and the room number of their current practice space, they chose…

"Quantum mechanics unfolds an intricate realm of limitless possibilities and probabilities, eluding easy definition. It paints a picture of the universe vastly different from our perceptible reality. What captivates me is the lens through which I perceive sound, akin to the principles of quantum physics—I don't merely hear the audible, but rather, I extract elements to construct novel auditory experiences. My profound interest in science, particularly quantum mechanics, originates around 2008-20…
"With concentration, or elevated tension as he has called it, Akio Suzuki enters completely into the substance of sound, its emergence and its passing. What he does with sound may propose a rarefied world to many people, and yet it possesses a persuasive quality of rightness. One of the most difficult aspects of music and soundwork to explain is the concept of ‘right action’. How is that music can be evaluated almost immediately, just as quickly as a fire alarm or a baby’s cry? When Akio perform…
"The theme of this recording is the invisible world, and one's (my) need for it. It's necessary for me, this idea of the invisible world, if I am to function on a daily basis. I find comfort in knowing that this is all not just us here and now, that there's something else around us. That there's something within us, that isn't just this frail skin and bones and the immediate environments we drag ourselves around. I am sure since I was a child, that within me I am many, I am more than this. I sur…

“Movement” is a work based on various piano sketches by Kenneth Kirschner, which Orphax edited, added synthesizer and organ, and mixed. The title “Movement” for this work comes with the idea that the music is continuously moving and never really stands still. It is also a reference to classical music, where a composition can be built up from different movements. This work has something similar, and consists of 5 different movements coming from multiple piano sketches (often combined).
Gareth Davis returns to Moving Furniture Records with a new collaboration. This time together with Monika Buganjy they perform his composition Becoming.
This work is grounded in early minimalist aesthetics of composers like La Monte Young and Phill Niblock, but also shares the sensibilities of contemporary artists like Duane Pitre, Sarah Davachi, Brian Eno and Ellen Arkbro.
The first Eliane Tapes release on CD. Elif Yalvaç her work Vection is inspired by Eliane Radigue her composition L'île Re-sonante, sky object and phenomena, and personal observations of Yalvaç in her environment.
Inspired by witnessing the broken tension and renewed possibilities of a laptop breaking down at a gig – not to mention the void left behind by the sudden end of a relationship – Pentu’s latest release is a jump-cut menagerie of musical moments. Sewn together into ‘And I Saw My Devil And I Saw My Deep Blue Sea’, these fifteen tracks continue the London-based producer’s active departure from the soundscapes and song structures that dominated their previous writing style. These disparate pieces sl…
Temporary super offer! "Their music reaches from blues to jazz into space", proclaimed the original liner notes to this highly collectible record, just released in 1968. Hailing from Boston, the Far Cry were a talented seven-piece blending psych rock and r&b, in the vein of Blood, Sweat & Tears and Rare Earth, with a further look into the realms of Beefheart Magic Band and John Cipollina's Quicksilver Messenger Service. Their sole album still maintain a distinctive sound, melting acid guitar, sa…

Joe McPhee's first international release, Black Magic Man, was issued on the newly formed Hat Hut imprint in 1975. It was a watershed moment for the 35-year-old musician. Based in Poughkeepsie, New York, he was too far away from Manhattan to have participated extensively in the Loft Jazz happenings of the decade. European exposure, however, would give McPhee an alternative circuit, something of an escape route from the trappings of American cultural myopia.
" In support of the new record for thi…
There are lots of outstanding Joe McPhee LPs. Nation Time being chief among them, but there's also Pieces Of Light, Oleo and Topology. The Poughkeepsie, New York-based multi-instrumentalist, by now an international star of free music, has amassed a daunting discography, no doubt. If you want to peer deeply into the soul of Joe McPhee, however, there's no way around it, you need to spend some quality time with Tenor.
" Tenor is McPhee's first solo record. He did not set out to make it. It was an …
