Summer
**300 copies limited edition. White vinyl** "Summer  was conceived as an entry point for Sonae to access and wrestle with difficult themes, to engage with them authentically, artfully, personally.  It was also the starting point for a collaborative audio-visual project with video artist Jennifer Trees (the confronting multimedia installation that premiers in September 2021 at Stadtgarten, Cologne). Summer articulates these ideas using the unique musical and sonic language that Sonae has been dev…

Le Marais
Besoins Premiers presents the Le Marais. Once upon a time in a strange, distant world... Three characters Anouar, Guillaume, Jacques and their acolytes went in search of the original swamp to make a break with the urban beliefs. From an urgent need to leave town for a journey, they said to me that a call of the forest leads their willing.  Le Marais as one named it in French, is a place of stagnant water, generally shallow and invaded by aquatic or herbaceous vegetation. It is an uncommon wetlan…
Reime
*Limited to 300 copies* "How can one explain the lasting popularity of the bass clarinet in musical circles from Vienna to Brussels? Perhaps because its frequency range articulates an alternative to conventions of popular music, where "bass" is reserved primarily for rhythmic impulses and the very foundation of the music. Viennese bass clarinetist Susanna Gartmayer's playing can by no means be reduced to just this, rather, it scutinizes the entire sound universe: she can do rhythm and drone, not…
Nouvelle Aventure
Distilling sounds from the now 70-year-old archive of the Darmstadt Summer Courses for New Music, the Berlin based electronic artist Hanno Leichtmann presents a stunning album which is remix, collage, and homage at the same time. On his latest work Nouvelle Aventure, Berlin's Hanno Leichtmann -- who besides his solo works, also plays with Jan Jelinek and Andrew Pekler in Groupshow and recently released his second album with Valerio Tricoli on Entr'acte in 2018 -- presents his very individual app…
Obstacle 80: Indices
"This LP forms an index to a body of artwork called Obstacle Corpus, encompassing drawing, writing, photographic and book works, video and sound. For the recording, I alternated between the same note on two pianos, played at once, with a spoken text. The text was written in two parts, using the titles of 75 artworks made during 2019, interspersed with a field text, written as a form of drawing. Tape recordings of the performance were exposed to magnetic fields and amplified back through a piano …
Raposa Velha
Raposa Velha was a notable Bahian jazz group, which was part of the wave of great musicians and bands from Bahia during the 1980s, such as Sexteto do Beco, Saul Barbosa and Andréa Daltro. Thus, Raposa Velha released only this album, independently in 1981. Outlined between jazz-fusion and avant-garde jazz, this LP has become a very obscure piece within the Brazilian jazz universe.
Espacios en Soledad
* Edition of 300 copies, 180g black vinyl with Engraving on side B, incl. printed innersleeve * Does returning to a place have a sound? Can the ear have a memory? And what if places which we return to are just empty shells? Choreographed rooms which we need to play, fill from scratch each time with fragments from the past and present, layer upon layer, familiar and still somehow always new and differently assembled. Paula Schopf’s Espacios en Soledad are acoustic walks around present day Santiag…
All Skies Have Sounded
Double LP version. "Gonzen, uminari or retumbos. Perhaps you've heard these sounds? They're known to occur all over the world and, as one might expect, humans have strained to offer various explanations for these unsettling emissions that materialize unbidden from the sky. We like to say that we've understood what's happening so that we can move on. Tidy up the loose ends and don't scare the horses. Nothing wrong with that in good measure, but there's something to be said for the Haudenosaunee p…
Something Is Wrong: Songs From East Africa
Killer compilation -- selections from an HMV run of more than 400 78s -- recordings made in Uganda and Kenya from the mid‐1930s to the mid‐1950s. Part 2 encompasses this material circa 1952-1957. Three main types of performance are featured (not forgetting a lovely early Kenyan big‐band calypso, as if straight from the pen of Lord Kitchener). Most are minstrelsy, with songs ranging dazzlingly through subjects including loneliness and death, bastards and cut‐off trousers, trains of fire and no‐go…
On Mande
Ever since her childhood Ogoya Nengo, baptized Anastasia Oluoch in about 1940, would excite listeners around her village with her singing abilities. Very soon she had received her stage name "Ogoya Nengo" which in Dholuo (language) means: the most precious and expensive singer in the region. Her debut album "Rang'ala" (Honest Jon's/London) came out in 2014 and was recorded and produced by Sven Kacirek and Stefan Schneider at various spots around Rang'ala Village, Siaya County, Kenya. Now "OGOYA …
Acosta
Leo Acosta was born as Leobardo Acosta Quintanar in Huetamo, Michoacán, Mexico in 1925. He was a notable drummer, composer, arranger, and orchestrator. In 1970, he recorded a last LP for Capitol with a small combo formed with some of his closest peers. The sound engineer for these sessions, Rogiero Silva, recalls that it happened in the night time. Leo was always very demanding in his studio hours with all of his musicians and that he did not tolerate mistakes or setbacks, but he was fully relax…
Shouting Over Deep Water Blues
**300 copies** "Arrington de Dionyso first made his name with the crazed Olympia-based art rock unit, Old Time Relijun. And I guess they still technically exist, but he has lately been more involved with Indonesian musical investigations, and lots of overtly free jazz horn aktion. Shouting Over Deep Water Blues was recorded by Henrik Lofgren in July 2012, in a small boat floating off the coast of Sweden. It features five improvisations on the Bromiophone with occasional liquid accompaniment prov…
Bangalore
Bangalore marks MKM’s fifth release for Mikroton. Recorded in concert on February 2, 2019 in Bangalore during a tour of India, this LP documents the group’s plunge in the ebb and flow of India’s intense energy. In visiting India the group found a social space which mirrored their own approach to music. Or in the words of David Tudor: Resonance is the condition whereby a tiny input autonomously cascades into a much larger output. It occurs when a small vibration interacts with the internal struct…
Six Gun Shots - Deconceptualize 2
** Edition of 100 ** Corvo presents Six Gun Shots - Deconceptualize 2 by Stefan Röme. Six shots ring out in a deadly rhythm – in my memory. For this sound piece, a sampled gunshot from the sound library freesound.org was arranged in a sequence of six in Audacity. The individual shots differ in filtering and in their relation to each other in time. All six shots are repeated in the beginning and end. Each shot opens up a different drone, processed with the free audio software »Paul’s Stretch« so …
Komplex
The project was created over two years in Seyðisfjörður, Iceland and in Berlin, Germany, and is an evolving conversation between Döring’s improvisation on acoustic instruments such as clarinet and saxophones, and Korabiewski’s electronic live treatment and composition with Döring’s sounds. A third compositional element is contributed by the particular ambiences of the spaces in which the recordings took place, as Korabiewski and Döring came together to record at sites with personal and acoustic …
Domestic Economy
The playful confidence that exudes Finlay Shakespeare's practice is flagrantly laid out on Domestic Economy, his extraordinary debut full-length. Domestic Economy displays two eventful sides evidencing the unique musical approach Shakespeare has developed in such a short period of time. Let's get some facts straight, Finlay is young. And talented. His programming skills belie his years and one can detect a sharp appreciation of historical electronic pop whilst simultaneously developing a canny u…
Gokcen Kaynatan
The missing component in the history of Turkish pop and one of the earliest exponents of Turkish electronic music alongside Ilhan Mimaroglu and Bülent Arel, Gökçen Kaynatan electrified the rock and roll scene of the late '50s/early '60s -- sending teenagers wild with his custom-built guitars and back lines -- helping charge the climate for the birth of Anatolian rock. Then, from the sanctuary of his private studio, he revolutionized the industry with his pioneering use of electronics whilst …
