Jazzaggression Records proudly presents Bamboo Noodles, the much-anticipated 10-inch EP from Swedish multi-instrumentalist Gustav Horneij, known as Organic Pulse Ensemble. Following six albums of exploratory spiritual jazz, Horneij distills his vision into four concise yet immersive tracks-“Instant,” “Udon,” “The Deepest Bowl,” and “Picante Beef.” Each piece is meticulously crafted through a process of self-overdubbing: drums and bass lay the foundation, while reeds, strings, and especially bamboo flutes weave melodic lines that evoke both meditative Eastern atmospheres and the earthy pulse of jazz fusion.
Horneij’s music is not just played, but inhabited-hours spent jamming with himself, feeling out what resonates, what uplifts, what transcends. This is total expression: many voices woven into one, dissolving the ego in favor of a collective, spiritual sound. The four tracks-“Instant,” “Udon,” “The Deepest Bowl,” and “Picante Beef”-are built around bamboo flute improvisations, drawing on modal jazz, Eastern influences, and hypnotic grooves. The result is music that feels both ancient and immediate, inviting listeners into a state of contemplation and inner calm, true to the spirit and emotional depth that defines the spiritual jazz tradition
Pressed in just 500 numbered copies, Bamboo Noodles is more than a record-it’s a vessel for spiritual connection, offering a taste of Horneij’s ongoing journey to channel the universal through sound.
