‘blasen’ is the first duo disc by two of the rising stars of London’s improv scene. Seymour Wright’s recent solo disc ‘Seymour Wright of Derby’ was rapturously received by critics and was described by Dan Warburton as “the best solo sax music I’ve heard for years”. And Sebastian Lexer – a pupil of and collaborator with John Tilbury – has developed his own software to extend the sound of the piano electronically in live performance. Both musicians emerged from Eddie Prevost’s improvisation workshop, have played with musicians such as john Butcher, Keith Rowe, John Edwards & Evan Parker, and have released discs on the Matcheless, w.m.o.r & TwoThousandAnd labels. ‘blasen’ consists of two long tracks recorded in London in May 2008, and both musicians feel that it is a landmark recording for them.
