Finally available! An hazy, organic drone masterpiece. Originally released in 2010 on cassette with Bathetic Records, the imprint Black Moss is pressing a limited edition first vinyl issue of this album in a number of 300. With some ambient music having a ridged and non translucent quality, Lee Noble’s Darker Half is a standard for organic ambient compositions. The four drones that create the albums whole are dense in shape and scope, stretching into infinite forms of expression and color patterns. To summarize its shape in in a complete form would take a microscopic analysis. The contact of it all is so heavy that analyzing on this level is better left solely to the listen. What I can comment on is the sensation of meditation that is brought out from even casual listening. Grabbing the attention of the listener is one thing, but the music on Darker Half pulls you in and at times leaves you with not option out. This is sound in it purest form, removed from formats or sequences of pop culture that have plagued possible fields of new music to emerge.
"An album composed of four long ritualistic drone lullabies, Darker Half sounds like the music in the mind of a feverish 13 year-old kid who fell asleep with the TV on, transmitting horror movies and national geographic documentaries about remote tribal ceremonies."
