2010 release ** "A multifaceted personality and artist in ethics, as well as aesthetics, Enrico Gabrielli has collected in the space of a few years what an average independent musician collects in a lifetime. Specifically, a series of important collaborations with the major world (Afterhours, Vinicio Capossela, Niccolò Fabi, Morgan), esteem and excellent feedback for shared projects (Mariposa and Calibro 35) and a status as a third-party arranger universally recognized in the Italian musical environment (from Alessandro Grazian to Dente, from Baustelle to A Toys Orchestra). What was missing was the solo experience that would re-establish the points of connection with an academic youth put a little aside: the Vol. 1 of the Der Maurer project here comes to fill that void. An operation balanced between revisitation and homage, the album mixes songs by Steve Reich, Giovanni Gabrieli, Louis Andriessen and Gabrielli himself, in a multi-track wandering – flute, clarinet, wurlitzer, piano, sax, organ, drums, all played by our man – that starts in 1985, passes through 1567 and 1975 to then arrive at 2002. Four songs to confront cultured and contemporary music without taking too radical positions, which on the one hand would like to underline the author's depth and curiosity and on the other imply an almost educational role for the less experienced. We believe that the wealth of information on the work – including the press kit – and the possibility of downloading the album for free from the author's website (www.enricogabrielli.com) tend to this. A detail, this last one, that officially sanctions the status of "collateral project" for the Der Maurer series."
