The music of dis fac was born in an abandoned place in the mind whose empty walls needed resonating drones and rattles to be brought to life. This 40-minutes soundscape - broken into six pieces but designed to be listened to as a whole - opens the door to explore the unlit, hidden spaces within the psyche, searching for clues through sonic experimentation. Andrew Hulme was born in Nottingham and is a musician and filmmaker. He co-founded the pioneering ambient/post-industrial band O Yuki Conjugate (OYC) in 1982, releasing numerous albums over a 40+ year period, and remains active with it today. He was also a founder of A Small Good Thing (ASGT) in 1989 where he first collaborated with Tom Fazzini on a series of instrumental releases, most notably the Slim Westerns series (Soleilmoon & the Leaf Label). He ran the Final Image label in the 1980s (see below) and is currently collaborating with artist Laura Lot on music and film as well as DJ-ing on a regular basis.
Tom Fazzini was born in Brisbane, a solo musician and fine artist, he has trained and worked both as a painter and as a mental health practitioner. His debut of electronica Neck to Neck was first released in 1984 on the UK's a-mission records, was subsequently reissued in 2009 on Chicago’s imprint Locust Music and is now regarded as a proto lo-fi touchstone.
After working as ASGT (1989-2002) Fazzini embarked upon his 'outre and inward psych trilogy’ of Sulphur Glue The Star (2005), Arms In Semaphore (2011) and One Shapeless Day (2014.) The first of these albums appeared on Locust, the two subsequent releases on his own UK label, Loophamystery Records. Fazzini has also been a member of the bands Purr, Gush and Forbidden Music.
Final Image was a label first set up by Dave Benson, Ian Dobson (Flowmotion) and Andrew Hulme in Leeds in 1983 as a home for music and video related projects. Andrew Hulme subsequently took over the label and released numerous LPs, cassette & videos, most notably the Nightlands compilation (1988) and OYC’s 2nd album Into Dark Water (1987) both of which are now considered classics. The label folded in 1988 due to the collapse of its distributor Red Rhino/The Cartel. Final Image is now reborn as a new entity - continuing the line 44 years later - with a focus not just on music but also film and art. It is run from London & Berlin by Andrew Hulme & Laura Lot.
