"There's a pleasant perfume reminiscent of Air emanating from the music French artist Fabien Guiraud presents on his third album La Prise Électronique (The Electronic Plug) particularly in the filmic element they both share. In the last ten years, diligently clocking up his 10,000 hours with bands like Chateau Marmont and Cargo, Guiraud's work has progressively found focus in music for film, latterly as a member of Odd Collective. The fourteen tracks here represent a snapshot (like a faded Polaroid) of his progress.
Using everyday life as inspiration, Guiraud builds moods around a hooky synth melody (borrowing heavily from 70s library music) using live instrumentation and analogue hardware to create that much sought-after warm sound, so often lacking in computer-generated electronic music. Fittingly, for a score to an imaginary film, the tracks are short (many ~2 minutes in length) yet in each he manages to pack tension or capture a moment of animation or emotion with a suave and effortless flair." - theletter.co.uk
