When a friend of Empty Space bought a broken-down Mercedes from the 90s, that had been sitting in a garage for around 20 something years, he found in its trunk a cardboard box which contained something very weird: Movie posters from obscure, but now classic 90s movies, burnt pages of what seemed to be a movie script and a cassette tape including a tracklist simply labeled "Original Soundtrack".

The box was sent to our headquarter and the content properly examined. While the crew gazed at the old movie posters and the burnt, beyond readable script, someone put the tape into the tape deck and hit play: Hard hitting, dusty drums, dirty basslines and beautifully distorted samples immediately filled the room. Listening and discussing the meaning of this obscure find, one after the other started to drift off...

A dusty haze settled in the room. Captivated heads nodding. Closed eyes. Followed by wild dancing. Screams. Spontaneous freestyle battle raps. Thrown chairs. Crying, shared kisses and hugs. Full body slams and backflips into perfect splits. When the tape deck stopped, everyone rose out of the mist, overjoyed and ready to share the movie they had just visualized, inspired by the music.

Inquiries about the origin of the box's mysterious content ensued and we found out that the original owner of the car had been somewhat of a character in the local underworld. A boxing legend named "Silverfist" Lemaire who had always dreamt of making it big as a Hollywood movie producer. No one really knew anything about him for sure, except that he was always talking about writing down his life story to be made into a movie, leaving the criminal life and moving to California. All that he really had was the soundtrack to the movie though. He had made it all by himself on a 4-track tape recorder and swore it was "the heart of the movie" and "ahead of its time". Apparently, he eventually had to skip town and disappear for good when things went south - rumor has it he’s now a surf instructor in Costa Rica. The box in the trunk of the Mercedes he had to sell to get out, is what's left of his dream.

What has found its way to us is a captivating musical journey into a world that never came to be. A movie that was never made. A dream unfulfilled, for you to dream on. Empty Space invites you to imagine your own movie through a gritty, raw and authentic soundtrack.

The album has been carefully remastered by Formen and dubbed on to a neatly packed cassette tape. The covers are printed by Ines Emertasol. Inspired by the implicit storytelling of the tracklist and the little background information we found out about "Silverfist" Lemaire, she designed a four-layer screen-print-cover, printed by hand on beautifully textured natural-paper.
