*2022 stock. In French language* Published in 1970, Sensorialité excentrique is the last book Hausmann published during his lifetime, when, after a long period of oblivion, he is beginning to receive expressions of admiration from younger generations. Although the book is brief, it is nonetheless immensely ambitious: to sketch out a new psychological and social consciousness by wiping the slate clean of two thousand years of history. It is homo sapiens that Hausmann attacks. In his view, it is homo sapiens who invented the capitalist dictatorship and restricted our knowledge to a purely materialistic level, preventing the evolution of a human type endowed with more universal cerebral and sensory capacities. The new man will be equipped with "eccentric sensoriality", a mental energy that transcends the limits of body and mind. In this sense, 'Sensorialité excentrique' is both a utopia and a ruthless and fundamentally pessimistic critique of so-called modern civilisation and the myth of progress.
