In today’s jazz scene it’s pretty much common knowledge that maintaining a stable group of working musicians is no small task. All too often economics dictate that in order to survive in the creative jungle, a working musician must keep his options open. So with this in mind one can take heart when many such in-demand musicians through their own desire make time in their very busy lives to return to a project that they hold close to their creative souls. It is precisely this center of gravity that makes me extremely proud and happy to take advantage of along with my co-leader, Luca Mannutza, as we put forth this, our second cd.
Every one of these marvelous and accomplished players is only too happy to reconvene with Sound Advice whether it would be a performance or studio date. And as with all creative cats whose join together, each one brings his own unique experiences and approach to the music. As in our first cd, Luca Mannutza wields his mighty writing pen and contributes so many wonderful and challenging tunes. His musical insights are uncanny and always fresh and inspiring. Sure to keep the players on their toes and the listeners on the edge of their seats. And all the cats – Max Ionata, Marcello Di Leonardo and Luca Bulgarelli rise to the occasion and make this project more than special, because it’s been an on-going labor of love for all of us now for over 5 years. Truly something, in which a jazz musician can take stock in an ever changing and uncertain world. - Andy Gravish
