“… Seeing the deepest night still bright, waking up at 9pm to get in the zone. Its foggy landscape was a newly found home, a spiritual one we unconsciously yearned for. Feeling nostalgia from something new, here we instinctively use our most comfortable language to create.”
This project started from our visit to Hosanger, a suburban town near Bergen, Norway. Field recordings were collected all thoughout Europe; the Hosanger cabin, train track apartment in Düsseldorf, and more.
Both grown up in multicultural environments, -Joon Pyo (a.k.a. milk of the sun) raised in Oregon, US and Iver Kim now based in the Netherlands-we were not strangers to being a stranger. This naturally led to a constant search for something beyond our native environments. Both of us believed that out there, there's a place that will best resonate with us, and it is our task in life to discover it. Travelling all across Europe 2023 summer was, in a way, our great expedition for it. As soon as we came to Hosanger we instinctively knew this was a part of our spiritual home we longed for. Here, we capture the fragile moments of unheimlich, where the senses of belonging and unfamiliarity coexist.
