The Dictaphone is the solo project of Jérémie Morin. back after 3 years of recording hiatus, the French DIY synth artist delivers another fine album of electronic drone and abstraction.
Following quiet an hectic release rhythm (8 albums between 2010 and 2015), this new LP surprises: his unlikely groovy minimal post punk spect (think A Frames or Devo...) has disappeared here. It's not like its predecessors, a one foot down record with 10 titles in 35 minutes.
On the other hand the ones who were delighted by mystery, experimentation and cavernous atmospheres of The Dictaphone will be captivated by this darker and more experimental album. The 3 long cathartic, rich and varied titles of the record guide the listener through a devastated landscape to an epic, luminous B side.Truly wonderful!
