About the album
“Water Futures” refers to the buying and selling of stocks based on the speculation that potable water will soon become a scarce resource due to the accelerating climate crisis. The sonic content within the album aims to reinforce the existential discomfort that this is a potential reality.
About the sounds
Each track on this album is achieved using combinations of reeds, straws, saxophones, saliva, water, and air in various proportions. No electronic effects were used in the making of the album. It is fully acoustically produced. Live performances of the sound language developed within are similar but ever-evolving depending on circumstance.
About the artist
Garrett Wingfield is a Miami based performer and composer who moonlights as an anti-genre activist. His music is “...equally informed by disparate influences — as much Ellington as it is Berio, as much Ornette as it is Zappa…” (Nextbop). Aesthetically veering toward the dense and sometimes the grotesque, he doesn't like the way this section ended and put this text in to make this section feel complete.
