CHBB was a project by Chrislo Haas (former DAF-member) and bassist Beate Bartel (founding member of Einstürzende Neubauten and of legendary Berlin girl punkers Mania D.), which later turned to be Liaisons Dangereuses. CHBB released their music only on four limited - and now legendary - cassettes. This compilation presents the complete works of CHBB, including all recordings from their original cassettes alongside previously unreleased tracks produced by both artists.
Limited edition translucent red vinyl. Dicks' debut LP has been acknowledged as a foundational statement in Punk ever since its initial 1983 release. Following their first single, 1980's "Dicks Hate The Police," and a live split with fellow Austinites the Big Boys, Kill From The Heart does not disappoint. Originally released on SST, the album stands apart from the mass of generic thrash-hardcore contemporaries – fueled by the manic, but controlled power of singer Gary Floyd along with the origin…
Huge tip! Black Truffle is thrilled to present the first vinyl reissue of David Rosenboom’s unique Future Travel, originally released on the short-lived Detroit label Street Records in 1981 and here presented in an expanded edition with an additional LP of wild, previously unheard live and studio material from the same period.
Future Travel emerged from the confluence of two important streams in Rosenboom’s work at this time. First, his exploration of ‘propositional music’, defined as ‘complete …
"Live in Aston 1977" is a completely new lens through which we can see a unique band with a seemingly inexhaustible energy for live performance. It comes at a difficult time for Can; their recently released eighth studio album, 'Saw Delight', was was poorly received and although posterity has been kinder, the reviews at the time of release have been savage. One might expect the live performances of this period to reflect some of the criticism levelled at the album, that they were slowing down, p…
"In North Africa, a ziara is a spiritual ceremony where people come to exorcise demons, purify their bodies and loudly reaffirm their attachment to God, the prophet and the deities who claim to embody him. On this occasion, there are uncontrolled outbursts from the audience, but this has nothing to do with Roman orgies, as it lacks ostensible debauchery, aphrodisiacs or saturnalia - it is merely a blurring of the line between the religious and the superstitious. In a shrill parable, cries erupt …
This is the second incredible album which the Brazilian bossa combo did in the US for A&M Records, during the brief time when they were expanded to a quartet from the original Tamba Trio lineup. This album can be considered a masterpiece that combines their original style with American sophistication. The set is completely sublime. A wonderful mix of the group's trademark harmony vocals and crackling bossa rhythms, with the warmly flowing CTI production style of the time – not funky like the CTI…
Albert Alan Owen was born in Wales in 1948 to parents of Welsh and Latvian heritage. His family later moved to Zimbabwe, where his father took up a teaching position. There, Owen was deeply influenced by local music and culture, while also exploring American RnB and jazz. It was during this period that he became acutely aware of the harsh inequalities under British colonial rule, which instilled in him a lifelong aversion to discrimination and racism.
In 1967, Owen returned to Europe to pursue h…
In an incredible stroke of luck, the Silentes sub-imprint, 13, returns with a long-awaited, expanded reissue of one of their most beloved and sought-after releases, Gigi Masin's incredible "Plays Venezia". An homage to the city that he calls home, issued in three beautiful editions - vinyl, CD and Cassette - these rippling sheets of piano and ambience, threaded by diverse sonorous sources, encounter the legendary Italian minimalist at his absolute, setting the stage for what is easily one of the…
Compilation of two scarcely-heard tapes self-published during the late 1980s / 90s by late Pennsylvania-based mail artist Mark Moreland. Hermetic cut-ups of private audio letters, radio frequency band shifting, and crude environmental sound assemblages. Gen Ken: "How to write about Mark is tough. I agree he didn't think of himself as an artist and rarely made anything like traditional art in his later years. He had some paintings he made for himself in his room and I am fortunate that he gave me…
Stripped-back harsh noise / death industrial from Finland’s underground. Lo-fi production recalls best of 90s noise, fans of Slaughter Productions take note…
Originally released in 1992 and our second C’33’ reissue following last year’s Metallurgi. Alumina Wrap deals also in surreal post-punk compositions but with more of a tribal ambient / progressive electronic leaning. Side B’s “Ten Year Mix” is particularly of note.
2024 stock. Veteran musicians from the ‘post-1968’ movement, still in activity, and their relatively young ‘heirs’ are gathered here for thirteen exclusive collaborations. Showing that continuity exists despite the changes of period and generation, and that passing the baton is possible and necessary. With Daevid Allen, Gilbert Artman, Pierre Bastien, Jac Berrocal, Philippe Bolliet, Guigou Chenevier, Pascal Comelade, eRikm, David Fenech, Lionel Fondeville, Dominique Grimaud, Etienne Jaumet, Kawa…
2024 Stock, few available. This Heat's influence, or, connections with the French underground seems to be somewhat larger than expected, as here we find The Heats erstwhile drummer and singer, Mr Charles Hayward, hooking up with another couple of other drummer boys, ....namely French 'rock in opposition' bloke Guigou Chenevier, and some geezer called Rick Brown.....yes THEE Rick Brown.......nah! I haven't heard of him either! But Rick probably hasn't heard of us too, so we're quits!?Three Drumme…
Jazz Rock ensemble from Munich led by German drummer Klaus Weiss and Austrian pianist Fritz Pauer and found in 1971. When Pauer presented Weiss some new songs, the two of them gathered Belgian guitarist Philip Catherine, Dutch flutist Ferdinand Povel and American drummer Jimmy Woode (R.I.P.) and formed Sunbirds. The recordings of their debut took place at the Union Studios in Munich on 24th August 1971. Weiss had good connections with various labels and the album was eventually released on MPS …
*2024 stock* Musical collective from Munich (Germany), founded in 1969 by Christian Burchard and Edgar Hofmann. Considered as one of the most important German jazz-rock bands during the 1970s. *2024 stock* After Uli Trepte had left the band, Guru Guru had one of their first gigs with Bruno Schaab on bass in the assembly hall of the Germania-Heim in Wiesbaden on November 4th, 1972. They played in front of about 200 to 300 people. The whole concert was recorded expertly and in stereo, with the consent of the band and the promoter, Robert Huth, by Muck Krieger, sharing a flat with Xhol (Caravan), a band they were friends with and which had just broken up. The equipment used - an Uher tap…
2024 Stock. Like Xhol Caravan: the well-known blend of jazz and psychedelia. Their gig at the third Essen Pop & Blues Festival in the Gruga hall (10/24/1970)
"Still with their black singer James Rhodes. A concert from spring 1970 in the lovely town of Altena. The cover shows sax player Tim Belbe in Charles Manson style. Good quality."
Missus Beastly from Herford were among the most famous German psychedelic and jazz-rock bands, with the most confusing history of all of them. Their first LP released on CPM in 1970 - without any title, just like the second LP in 1974 - had a beautiful red cover artwork and is traded today at around 1000 €. The vinyl edition on Garden of Delights comes in the original red gatefold cover and with four-page insert in LP size.
This album contains three instrumental jazz rock jams recorded by Radio Bremen in September 1974 shortly after the band had produced the second LP. Keyboarder Dieter Miekautsch had left the band towards Embryo and Eddy Maron, also known from contributions for Vita Nova and Dzyan, brings new aspects to the music - it's quite a new impression of the band. The sound quality leaves nothing to be desired by the way. A very good show documenting a new facet of the Missus Beastly band and a highlight f…
