Intro sampler collection of Glenn's various guitar orchestra classics for the uninitiated. Glenn has personally selected a track listing representative of his absolute unique-on-this-planet vision, with material ranging from the delicate celestial beauty of Symphony No. 3 to the demonical, otherworldly terror unfurled in No. 10. Selections is the ultimate 'in' to Branca's work if you're yet unacquainted with the most influential composer of the era.
Reissue of a magnificent, impossible-to-categorize French classic originally released on the hopelessly obscure d'Avantage label in 1976. Pretty much the definition of musical anarchy, "Paralleles" begins with an atonal duo for trombones, wends its was through accompanied poetry readings and cornet solos, vamps into a rap delivered by Vince Taylor (France's answer to Eddie Cochran and Bowie's inspiration for Ziggy Stardust!) on 'Rock N Roll Station' (which Nurse With Wound deconstructed later on…
Alga Marghen is proud to now present this new edition of "Poème-Partition X", extended to the CD format and included in a luxury 96 pages hardbound book, limited to 350 numbered copies. The book reproduces for the first time the complete score, a visual wonder and a major experimental printed work. Bernard Heidsieck memories of an historic lecture at the Jean Tinguely atelier is included as an introduction, as well as his testimony on Ian Sommerville and Brion Gysin's "Dream Machine". Also on th…
Few copies back in stock, long out of print. After the publication of Danses organiques, Elica is pleased to present two previously unreleased compositions by Luc Ferrari from the early 80's: the stereo magnetic tape piece Dialogue ordinaire avec la machine coupled with Sexolidad, a composition for fifteen instruments. Both pieces share with the Danses a deep sense of sexual curiosity, a penetrating matter for the composer's musical explorations. This album is yet another fine testament to the F…
Back in 1988 Arbeit Group label released obscure industrial-noise release by project called TRAIT. A-side of the tape includes several different arrangement for inspiration in battle. B-side included several of those arrangements combined together for temporary unified action. 45 minutes of most primitive analogue destruction, leaving no place for easylistening or relaxing moments. Even with the atmopheric and dark moment, sound is extremely decayed and coarse sound of tape loops, manipulation a…
An unreleased live by this legendary cult no-wave NY band from 1979. In around fifteen years exitence since their formation in 1978, the history of Circle X can be divided in two parts and for each, with few but always powerful releases : the late 70s-early 80s with two singles + one vinyl LP, and for the second one : four singles, one CD and one miniCD for the early until mid-90s. Today, its a great delight to see the first official Circle X live album. And what a document ! The Circle X 'Histo…
First issued as a very limited private tapes in 1981, now for the first time ever on CD for these early tapes by one of the most important figures in noise/electronic history, Maurizio Bianchi. These two discs were originally issued on tape in 1981 and have been bootlegged and cut into oblivion since then; this is the first time they've been made available digitally and fully uncut. Technology 1 has two long 25 min+ songs, both in a similar vein and showing MB taking a more subtle melodic approa…
Marbled dark-red vinyl, limited to 150 handnumbered copies. Handmade gatefold cover with latexpainting + 2 photos. Listing this record as "Nurse With Wound" in the title is not totally wrong as this is a great live performance (1982) of Steven Stapleton's wife Diana Rogerson aka Chrystal Belle Scrodd, she also released 2 wonderful records on United Dairies in the early/middle of the '80 (Belle De Jour & The Inevitable Chrystal Belle Scrodd Record). This is a really fantastic release by this Aust…
This is the limited friends edition of 50 copies in a red Box Set with golden imprints instead of the black Box Set with silver imprints, especially for the artist and a few other people in relation to VOD. Handsingned copy!
The first public appearance pairing Christian Henjes (then 'Zero Jack') and Juergen Gleue (then 'Genius Nr.17') was in 1976, at the Dada Nova (a space later occupied by Otto Müehl's AAO commune) in midtown Hannover, Germany. Known for pranksterism and the destruction of the clubs in which they would perform, friction would follow the band everywhere. In 1979 they were thrown out of a show in Kassel at the Documenta (their sounds had disturbed Joseph Beuys). They created an outrage (they wrote…
Chamber Works 1973-2001. Frank Denyer's (b.1943, London) music is the work of a truly original mind, one that sees and hears the world just a little differently. The six pieces on this CD are unlike the music of any other composer working today, celebrating the richness of acoustic sound in all its inexhaustible variety. The composer supervised performances by The Barton Workshop, which Denyer co-founded in 1990.
Incredible italian avant/free progressive album from the historic early Seventies finally rediscovered and dusted off the vaults !!! After a very long time, BTF distributes one of the rarest italian progressive albums of all time: Cincinnato, a masterwork recording originally released back in 1974 and never before reissued on LP! Featuring some great progressive and jazz-rock tracks and an incredible 20-minutes long suite. This is a superb release and the ultimate collector's item of the italian…
2006 remaster, originally issued in 1983. Climate of Hunter was Scott Walker's only album of the 1980s. It drew critical raves for a minimalist, trancelike ambience that showed him keeping abreast of cutting-edge trends. This version of the album is digitally remastered for the first time and has the addition of sleevenotes by music journo and St. Etienne member Bob Stanley. Guest musicians include Evan Parker and Ray Russell.
Recorded in Roma in March 1981. It was recorded in five days, a day per body section. No tracks were re-recorded or added to after their day. Each was immediately after recording. No tracks were pre-planned, all tracks are invented directly onto the tape.
In the Shadow of the Sun is an improvised "score" created by Throbbing Gristle for the Derek Jarman 1980 super-8 film bearing the same title. It is an example of what Throbbing Gristle founder Genesis P-Orridge called "Ambient video", used to "enhance or complete an environment."
1997 reissue of this classic 1979 album. "It's a break in the clouds from Throbbing Gristle's pummeling noise and a first glimpse at the continuing pop influence on the TG/PTV axis, but 20 Jazz Funk Greats still isn't best described by its title. If there is such a thing as a funky Throbbing Gristle LP, however, this could well be it. 'Hot on the Heels of Love', 'Hamburger Lady' and 'Six Six Sixties' add only occasional bits of distortion between the rigid sequencer lines. 20 Jazz Funk Greats is…
Includes liner notes by Jacqueline Grandchamp-Thiam, Rikki Stein and Mabinuori Kayode Idowu. Digitally remastered by Pompon (Translab Paris, Paris, France). With the inclusion of Nigerian master musician Fela Anikulapo Kuti's incendiary 1977 single, "Zombie," "Mr. Follow Follow," a typical anti-authoritarian exhortation, and a couple of hitherto-unreleased live cuts from the 1978 Berlin Jazz festival, ZOMBIE finds the iconoclastic singer and bandleader at his electrifying best. The title track, …
Fela Anikulapo Kuti's 1978 Berlin Jazz Festival appearance, here as V.I.P. (Vagabonds in Power), is one of Africa 70's finest performances. V.I.P. castigates Nigerian authority more sizably than any other Fela album for one reason: he verbally beat down the country's power structure in front of a European crowd. It was a big move for the singer (who'd lost his mother, his home, and any sense of physical security in his homeland thanks to Nigeria's thoroughly corrupt military elite). Fela certain…
This two-for-one CD reissue brings together a couple of the more unusual offerings in Fela Kuti's discography. Upside Down, released in 1976, is the usual two-song, half-hour deal, the songs beginning with several minutes of instrumental solo trades before the socially conscious lyrics enter. The song "Upside Down" itself, however, is sung not by Kuti but by Sandra Akanke Isidore. She was a woman who Kuti met during his stay in the United States at the end of the '60s, and who is credited with h…
