Better Than Life
"MX-80 Sound are one of the foundational underground rock bands of the last half century. Formed in the university town of Bloomington IN in 1974, the original version came about when Bruce Anderson and Dale Sophiea (from Screaming Gypsy Bandits) teamed up with Rich Stim and Dave Mahoney (from Chinaboise), adding another couple of drummers for extra confusion. Things fluxxed and mutated for a while. MX-80 played the Bloomington Public Library and rehearsed a lot. They opened for Patti Smith, one…
Dead Can Dance
The uncompromising eponymous debut, Dead Can Dance, harnessed a bewitching barrage of sounds (including the distinct sound of the yangqin) with the then five-piece interchanging instruments to leave the vocals of Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry as the only constant. The album’s cover was important as an introduction too, a Papua New Guinean mask that some believe when worn, a life force can be put into the inanimate wood - the dead can dance.
Beat Rhythm News (Waddle Ya Play?)
★ Limited edition 45th anniversary reissue. Includes an additional LP comprising the rest of Essential Logic's recorded output. Reverse-board sleeve with spot-varnished front cover & printer inner sleeves with lyrics and liner notes ★  Iconic UK punk band X-Ray Spex co-founder Lora Logic was unexpectedly ousted before the recording of their debut album ‘Germ Free Adolescents' in 1977. Undeterred, Lora went on to form and front the post-punk band Essential Logic. With trademark angular sax lines …
Industrial Sponge
Edition of 200 copies.  Slithering out the fertile depths of Olympia, Washington circa 1985, Industrial Sponge “released” a lone 90 minute cassette onto the unsuspecting public. And by “released” we mean they would gift wrap the tape and leave it around Olympia and nearby Aberdeen at bus stops, on the sidewalk or in coffee shops, waiting for their bizarre manifestations to be discovered by whoever was in the mood for a mysterious free present. Industrial Sponge was spearheaded by “Fearless” Fran…
A Peak In The Signal: Live 1979-1980
Pioneers of the Los Angeles underground art damage electronic music scene, Grey Factor have been more myth than legend for over 40 years. The band recorded two experimental synth/post-punk EPs and gigged sparingly before disbanding. None of their recordings have been officially released in physical format until now.
Astral Glamour
The Homosexuals! One of the outstanding bands of the eighties who came and went with hardly anyone noticing and just 2 EP's and a single released on their own label. In 1982, ReR compiled an LP from the debris of the surviving tapes and that was that for 20 years. Now more or less everything that can be found has been collected together on these 3 CDs. The first two assemble the handful of releases issued by the band plus our own 1982 best-of LP, the 'Ici La Bas' album (the HS under other names)…

Cream Corn From The Socket Of Davis
The second part of Matador’s reissues of the essential early records by Texas’s Butthole Surfers continues with three of their most insane slabs -- 1985’s ‘Cream Corn from the Socket of Davis,’ 1987’s ‘Locust Abortion Technician’ and 1988’s ‘Hairway to Steven.’ The period during which these records were first issued parallels the Buttholes’ transition from being weirdo Texas outcasts to becoming internationally recognized smut-kings of the American underground. In 1985 they were still the sole p…

Gel Stations Past
*2024 stock* Gel Stations Past brings together tracks from three shadowy self-released cassettes by Russian Tsarlag: Decrepit Gas Station, Living in the Past, and Dipped in Gel. Dubbed in minimal quantities and cloistered for private worship, much of Russian Tsarlag’s recent output remains hard to find. Each of these albums dispersed instantly among friends and fanatics and receded into legend. This record consolidates the great pieces of crooner dejection that typify Tsarlag’s recent music. Thes…
Losing The War Inside Our Heads
“Losing The War Inside Our Heads” is the 17th official album by The Flying Luttenbachers. It is a desolate, bracing collection of music showcasing five varied new tracks of intense, composed modernism. The previous release “Terror Iridescence” (2022) was an abstract horrorscape of alienated dissonance marking founding member Weasel Walter’s transition back to the original base of operations, Chicago. Following four albums with New York based personnel since reviving the Flying Luttenbachers in 2…

Live It
Temporary Super Offer! *2024 stock* From the same studio that brought us 48 Chairs (Gerry & The Holograms), The Fall and The Blue Orchids, while following the bona-fide bloodline between Danny and The Dressmakers, Toolshed and 808 State, the “difficult second album” by Biting Tongues (released on a minuscule cassette run by The Buzzcocks’ Vanity label) has since become a near mythical artefact of Mancunian DIY. Cementing the path between the Absurd label’s kitchen sink synth assaults and Factory…
70% Paranoid
Temporary Super Offer! *2024 stock* Documenting 48 Chairs, the unlikely coupling of British free jazz bastion Lol Coxhill and the saucy synth pop don't-wannabes known as Gerry And The Holograms, 70% Paranoid is a rare incognito full-length album. It bridges the micro-niches of electronic jazz and punk jazz from a band formed in 1979 at an axis where DIY and new wave hadn't quite collided! With sprinklings of post-punk female vocals worthy of PragVEC and Suburban Lawns, featuring angular art rock…
Shot To Pieces
Temporary Super Offer! “Leaving you spellbound in its androgynous vocal delivery, Spider King’s Animals is a haunting children’s march that paralyses me with each listen”   An unknown pleasure torn out of Manchester’s lost DIY manual, this overqualified/underexposed post-punk pop pillar cast an almost invisible undetected web across the history of Manchester’s inner-city music scene which has trapped body parts of The Mothmen, Martin Hannett, Gerry And The Holograms, John Cooper Clarke, The Blue…
Anagrama
BACK IN PRINT ON VINYL!  While 1995's Washing Machine LP moniker was a thinly-veiled jab at the corporate aesthetic ("no, you cannot turn Sonic Youth into a household appliance brand", the band even considered changing its name to Washing Machine but settled on the album title instead), their major label relationship was indeed a curious buzzpoint of talk on the street after their intake to DGC in 1990. It wouldn't be fair to say that this state of existence propelled the band to reinforce its i…
