Indian Soundies
Awesome collaborative & solo pieces by sound artist Moniek Darge & kye boss Graham Lambkin"I have always been interested in sounds in general. When reading and teaching about the futurists, I fully agreed that the sound of engines and machines could be as interesting as the sound produced by musical instruments. But not only industrial sounds fascinate me I also find the sounds of nature very inspiring. What I love to do is make soundscapes, and I try to give an impression of a certain space. I …
Astral collapse
"Latest excursion/exploration into the genius of the late great Angus Maclise that will throw you back into that insomnia haze you truly enjoyed, if you’re old enough. Stripped back focus on the artist and his compositions, some of which are the last things he ever recorded. In the 70s, Angus’s interest in tape music, noise, and the extreme gradualisms of music had reached its apex, and these pieces were born. Nowhere else will you hear Angus shredding apart the circuits of an arp synthesizer, o…
Karren
Olivia Block's Karren is a two-movement electroacoustic-orchestral composition. The first movement, Foramen Magnum, is an electroacoustic concrète piece created from heavily processed field recordings taken from orchestral rehearsals and various public locations, including museums and zoos. The second movement, Opening Night, is a layered orchestral score performed by the Chicago Composer's Orchestra, with whom I recorded and worked for several years in order to complete this project. Thematical…
TransMongolian
TransMongolian is a composition of unprocessed field recordings composed in soundscapes. I recorded these acoustic phenomena on my journey through Russia, along Lake Baikal, through Mongolia, China and South Korea to Japan. These countries do not only have very different landscapes and ways of life, they also differ in their sounds, a dimension which more often than not goes unnoticed. The 6 acoustic portraits reflect what I found to be representative of or very special about the countries.
Raining
I met Rolf Julius only once in September of 2009. Knowing I had studied his works for over a decade, he graciously invited me to meet him for his solo exhibition and performance in Montreal that year. By strange coincidence, not only did we end up staying in the same hotel in this city foreign to both of us, but our rooms were directly next to each other! He greeted me with such humility Ð and like roommates, for 4 days we shared every meal and nearly every conversation. It was there tha…

Installation Recordings (1973-2008) 2Cd
This 2CD is essentially a retrospective of Max Eastley's Installation work. This is Eastley's first solo CD. Of the 35 tracks, only the last 2 have any guests or 'playing' (the most virtuosic moment being George Lewis playing a grass blade). All the other pieces are either powered by the natural forces of w…

Thousand Year Dreaming-Floating World
Thousand Year Dreaming (1990) was commissioned by Essential Music and was written with the musicians on this recording, their particular strengths and inclinations, very much in mind. It grew out of an improvisatory piece, Nautilus, which Art Baron, Scott Robinson and Annea Lockwood realised in 1989. They found that the sound of conch shell trumpets, didjeridu and frame drums really flowered in the resonant spaces they were using for the piece. Lockwood started imagining the sonorities possible …
