Choosing Freedom
With this work Gagi Petrovic chooses to explore beyond abstraction, dwell within it, to find an inner celebration of what it means to let go of expectations and let music ring free. Free from arbitrary expectations, emotional manipulations and conservative evasions regarding what music "should" be. For this purpose he created his own musical instrument. The custom-built Gest allows the performer to design and play electronic music in an intuitive way, turning hand gestures and light sensors into…
The Imitation Of An Action
These recordings are based on the idea of acoustic instruments imitating electronic sounds created by a live performer. The core, structure, and length of the pieces are defined by a graphic score that leaves room to the musicians for the imitation of those sounds. This work is a commission by Archipel Festival and Ensemble Contrechamps, with the support of the Nicati-de Luze foundation.

Aether
Over the course of two nights, a few weeks before the pandemic arrived in Portugal, André Gonçalves (ADDAC System) and Casper Clausen (Efterklang) recorded music from another realm, dreamy and scary at the same time, sounds complete but it seems to be falling apart at any moment. It is like an alien language or a way to process sound that sounds foreign because it is different from everything else, formally, and aesthetically. This is “Aether”, 37 minutes of constant take-off. A departure from w…
Still Here, Still Ripping
*Limited edition of 200 copies.* Ideas generate electric guitar technique-- novel finger picking, manual LFO-- from which emerge Songs as technique recedes into the background. Listen to imagine adding your sound. In the moment, it happens: music made together. I am one person, ready. These songs are searching for people, for meaning. In one, I find it. The electric guitar as a folk instrument unfinished in its evolution, invites engagement in its becoming. I have chosen to add and also subtract…

Includes 20-page book with rare archive photos and liner notes Q&A with writer/director David Weisman * Edie Sedgwick was the true “It Girl” of the Pop Art age; a woman who famously said she wanted “to turn the world on just for a moment”. Part of Andy Warhol’s Factory for a year in the mid-‘60s, she is widely believed to have inspired The Velvet Underground’s “Femme Fatale” as well as Bob Dylan’s “Leopard-Skin …
Invitation to a Dream
**CD version** First release from the first time trio of legends Susan Alcorn, Joe McPhee and Ken Vandermark. Invitation to a Dream is not only the first recorded statement, it is also a document of the very first meeting of the trio. Back in 2016 we asked Alcorn and McPhee to play a duo set at our favorite festival Cropped Out in Louisville, KY, and after getting our minds blown we knew we had to get the duo into a studio to record an album. After a few failed attempts due to schedules and bad …
Rosa De Sangue
(180gr pressing) Polysom official reissue of this monster rarity. Originally custom pressed in 1980, ‘Rosa de Sangue’ is the closing chapter of the amazing Recife psychedelic movement that flourished and centred around the work of Lula Côrtes, beginning in 1973 with the release of Satwa, and the creation of ‘abracadabra’, Lula’s loose art/music/design collective. “I want to close all of this with a golden key”… and a golden key it is.Entering a small local studio with a head full of songs and hi…

Black Lights
A little psych-dub masterpiece recorded in 1981 by the elusive Minus Group, a mysterious studio band led by multi-instrumentalist Enzo Minuti (aka Ezy Minus). The two tracks on this single are different arrangements of the same composition, the first, on Side A, being an afro-dub version with phrasings on sax and synth (both played by Minuti himself), weirdly processed choir vocals, and obsessively repetitive percussion. Side B, on the other hand, contains a tropical-downtempo mix, with claves a…
Paranoia
**300 copies, to be released in mid June** "To complete the Orgasmo / Paranoia soundtrack set, Four Flies adds two songs to the cake (both not included in the LP version). An alternate take of Lydia MacDonald's Fate Had Planned So, more rhythmical and dynamic than the one used for the titles sequence, and the soul hit Just Tell Me, sung by the American Wess, and performed by his Airedales. The song is heard repeatedly in Orgasmo, but it’s also used in the following film, A Quiet Place to Kill, w…
The Sound of Science
Dean Honer and Kevin Pearce present a beautifully designed original soundtrack of songs taken from a science show for children and adults alike.
The Thetford Beast
Motoring up to Norwich from London, it would be difficult to miss Thetford Forest, the vast wooded wilderness that follows a large section of the A11. Planted between the world wars to ensure a plentiful timber stock, today it's a managed park attracting picnickers and hikers. But there's another side to this wood that most day trippers would probably be unaware of... Concretism's Chris Sharp can often be found walking in Norfolk's Thetford Forest as he has family over that way. It was on one su…
Paradise Of Replica
Reissue, originally released in 1989. After Dinner's Paradise of Replica is a concise nugget of tomfoolery that occupies a whimsical no man's land between art pop, Japanese folk music, and full-assed Art Zoydian avant proggery. Gentle, arcane and covertly sweeping, it typifies that friendly strain of experimentalism that Eastern music seems so predisposed towards and which curious minds find such great delight in. Assembled by the enigmatic chanteuse and composer known simply as Haco, After Dinn…
Die Höfner Akten
Tip! New collaborative work by two veterans of the European experimental scene, Dirk Serries + Asmus Tietchens. Dirk Serries and I have long been colleagues and friends. Since the 1990ies we have exchanged sound materials to be reworked and published on an on and off basis. "Die Höfner Akten" are something new and special to in so far as the source material with its basic structure has been improvised exclusively on an acoustic guitar (of the 'Höfner' brand). Dirk and I had agreed upon the follo…
Chapel
"Sometimes I wonder why it takes years for something to find its way to a release, but in this case, you could think: wow, that's really fast. The concert that we find on these recordings dates from September 4. I must assume the CD went into production the day after the concert. I believe I had not yet the pleasure to hear music as part of a duo (in some bigger groups, yes), and he teams up with recent improvised music convert Dirk Serries. The latter is on guitar. I would think this CD covers …
Ceux Qu'On Aime - Ce Que Je Hais
*In process of stocking* Etant Donnes is a French duo named after Marcel Duchamp's last major work. The group consists of brothers Marc and Eric Hurtado, born in Morocco and working mainly as performance artists and musicians. Their sound can be described as a mix of field recordings, found sounds and sometimes whispered, sometimes violent vocals. They describe their sounds like this: "Through Marc and Eric, it is the volume of each word that becomes an object-sculpture, together with the power …
Bone Of Contention
*In process of stocking* Semantics was a jazz supergroup consisting of Elliott Sharp, Ned Rothenberg and Samm Bennett. Elliott Sharp, born in Ohio in 1951, began playing the piano at the age of six and started to perform concerts two years later. He soon gave up the piano, first in favour of the clarinet and later for the guitar. Sharp became intrigued with all types of experimental music, from contemporary classical to free jazz and sophisticated rock. He studied anthropology at Cornell Univers…
