Grafts
Major new work from Kara-Lis Coverdale, her solo debut vinyl release following Aftertouches (2015).  A blissfully introspective 22 minute piece for keys, samplers and EQs in three parts. A sublime and quietly hypnotic work belied by steadfast conceptual rigour, Grafts is the most ambitious and involving work yet from Kara-Lis Coverdale, her first since 2015. In three parts of cascading yet plaintive multi-instrumental gestures, Grafts expands on the processing and self-temperement techniques exp…
Video Salon
The transcontinental collaboration of Arcata shoegaze abstractionist Brian Pyle and spectral Russian songstress Galya Chikiss began in Berlin, where the former was on tour and crashing with the latter, then finished in Northern California. Despite such distance, the duo’s debut feels symbiotic and seductive, shimmering nocturnal mirages of devotional drone and processional dub. Named after the site of certain of Chikiss’ formative teenage experiences (“trashy rooms with old anonymous TV sets and…
Ye Shanghai
"This recording features a concert by Italian composer and multimedia artist Roberto Paci Dalò entitled Ye Shanghai, recorded at the ORF Funkhaus in Vienna for Kunstradio. This complex and poignant sound collage is comprised of recorded voices that quickly dissolve into ambient electronic sound that grows increasingly in intensity over the course of this reflective piece. With mysterious instrumentation and vocal recordings, Roberto Paci Dalò creates a powerful composition of swirling sou…
La Niña Junco
Argentinian musician Federico Durand returns with his 2nd full length album on 12k following 2016’s A Través Del Espejo (12k1085). Taking his already minimalist composition style Federico challenged himself by using only one synthesizer for this beautiful album of sparse, hypnotic dustiness. His talent for creating works of so much emotion out of so little attest to his concentration when working and his passion for the craft. La Niña Junco is a handwoven gem. Music with a humble origin an…
Southland
Just when you thought you had heard everything that German electronic music of the 1980s had to offer, up pops an artist who has resolutely stayed off the radar all these years, in spite of having a discography which lists no less than 18 albums. (Hobby) musician Rüdiger Lorenz, a pharmacist by trade, completed an album almost every year beginning in the early 1980s, first as limited runs of two to three hundred on cassette, then switching to vinyl in 1983, and CD in 1990. His last album was rel…
Werke Für Schlagzeug Und Elektroakustische Geräte
Works for Percussion and Electro-Acoustic Devices is the second album of the Polish percussion duo Milosz Pekala and Magda Kordylasinska. The compositions Renaissance Gameboy #1 and #2 (2011) by Felix Kubin were originally written for violin, saxophone, cello, piano, drums and tape. The new versions arranged by the duo transport his pieces into the world of an extended percussion set, with marimba and vibraphone placed in the center. Additionally, several parts were recorded on tape. Blac…

Tracks with beats, groovy, experimental and/or hardcore all on one album, initiating the continuation of the label's activities with a series of releases. The logo on the cover can be read "reat" and means both a bad behaving child and something really evil. Best Suit
Outside of Ontario, some of us had to actually work yesterday. So, now we are in the mood for Weird Tuesday. Here’s something to totally mess up your work day: ‘Best Suit’, the excellent techno, ambient, avant garde album from Jason Zumpano’s The Cyrillic Typewriter. Accompanied by Megan Bradfield on double bass, Zumpano lays out some jazz-informed musical musings that are occasionally laid-back but more often chilling and cinematic. It’s the soundtrack to a future nightmare.
Konzerte 1972/1977
LP version with CD. The two authorized recordings presented on Konzerte 1972/1977 vividly conjure up the atmosphere, perhaps even the magic, of a Cluster performance back in the day. One took place in 1977 during a science fiction festival in Metz (France). The other dates back to an earlier show in Hamburg's Fabrik venue. Cluster played three gigs in the city in 1971/1972, including the one partially included on 1972's Cluster II (LR 335LP). Cluster shows routinely lasted six hours or more, …

Señales De Síntesis - Música Electroacústica Peruana
In the bulletin 103 of the Casa de las Americas, published in the second semester of 1984, there is an article by Peruvian composer and musicologist Aurelio Tello, offering a full-scale view of what by then was the last generation of Peruvian composers: the generation of the 70s, nicknamed by Celso Garrido-Lecca as “The Superstars”. Making a recap of the musical production of those composers, Tello indicates: “Signs of the conditions under which we work can be seen at first sight: the red…
Paisajes Sonoros (1984)
Published in 1984 independently as a cassette. It was the result of extensive research by Manongo Mujica and Douglas Tarnawiecki on Peruvian sounds. Throughout one year they traveled from the desert of Paracas to the Jungle visiting marketplaces and the heavily used avenues of Lima, recording the sounds of the sea, the wind, the rumor of streets and radio emissions. With all of this recorded archives they composed a soundtrack at Sandro LiRosi’s sound studio and on it they added a diversi…
Single Collection 1972-1980
Double album compilation of the first singles (1972-1980) of Richard Pinhas and his legendary bands: the mythical Heldon, Schizo, and T.H.X.. And, as a bonus, an excellent long, hypnotic, instrumental version of "Marie Zorn" (1999), previously unpublished."French rock and pop, when not being dismissed outright, are often discussed only in terms of English-language antecedents. Johnny Hallyday brings to mind Elvis, for example, and the chameleonic, hedonistic Serge Gainsbourg is sometimes compare…
Songs For The Ten Voices Of The Two Prophets
Beacon Sound present a reissue of Terry Riley's Songs For The Ten Voices Of The Two Prophets, originally released in 1983. Recorded live in Munich in 1982 using two Prophet synthesizers and voice, this album is a reflection of Riley's ongoing interest in melding improvisation, electronic music, and the raga vocal stylings of his mentor, Pandit Pran Nath. Terry Riley turned the music world upside down with his 1964 work In C, a revolutionary concept based on 53 modules that can be improvised upon…
Moon Synch
LP version. Includes download code. MimiCof's latest album, Moon Synch, is an experimental sonic link between human and celestial bodies, mind and machine, gravitational ripples and rotations. Moon Synch is the result of an intricate search for converging frequencies, a wordless account of well-modulated speeds and interlocking spheres. Kyoto-born, Berlin-based MimiCof, who's also been releasing music under her actual name Midori Hirano since 2006, quite literally breaks new ground and ventu…
Dominions
2016 release. Dominions is the second full-length release from Canadian electroacoustic composer Sarah Davachi, following 2015’s Barons Court. A slightly more demure approach is at work here, shifting from the brooding textures of her previous work to softer tones and more delicate movements in structure, as in side openers ‘feeler’ and ‘ordinal’. Recorded primarily at her home base in Vancouver, Davachi returns with her typical assembly of electronic equipment, mostly consisting of vintage synt…
