“They made us climb up here” is the third album from Satan is my Brother. Five tracks of noisy jazz, or jazzy noise or none of the two. Melodies built on sax and trombone, struggle to surface from layers of electronics, groovy bass lines and free form drumming.
Z’ev and Simon Balestrazzi are two masters of the industrial and post-industrial sound. The first inventing his own world of self made metallic percussions, the second spreading the seeds of the industrial noise pollinated with electronica and future folk forms through his various outputs, T.A.C. (Tomografia Assiale Computerizzata), Dream Weapon Ritual and Candor Chasma. This record takes shape from several encounters between the two. A Z’ev live recording in Cagliari, Sardinia from 2007 is …

Shot against the backdrop of California's most remote coastal region Lost Coast is a personal quest for transcendental values in troubled times and a quiet cinematic celebration of the beauty and immensity of the natural world. The film aims to remind us that today's mindless commoditization, cold efficiancy and endless acceleration lead to a streamlined citizenry and to a spiritual vacuum. Equal parts film essay and travelogue "Lost Coast" questions today's materialistic value system and…
La Piramide Di Sangue - "The bloody pyramid" - is a seven musician ensemble from Torino, Italy. The sound of the band is built on two guitars, two basses, one clarinet, one synth, several effects, drums and percussions. There's a rich history in psychedelic music, and we all know it. The best trip is always the one yet to be embarked upon. And each trip is different from the one before. You can't jump into the same lysergic river twice. Don't even try. Instead, prepare to be washed away by the …

Father Murphy are back with an even more puzzling project than any other output from their recent past: two one-sided 10" containing two movements each, meant to be played simultaneously - or maybe not, because (just like they wrote in the liner notes) "you choose" and "never forget you have a choice". Recorded in the wonderful enviroment of a medieval castle in Itri and at Bombanella Soundscapes in Maranello, the EP is a concept of sorts about the many virtues of Failure and the chances we have…
While the band is preparing for the recordings of the fourth album, Mamuthones goes back to the solo output of Alessio Gastaldello for a new EP of meditative and trascendental music. Once again deeply involved in tradition and ancestral memories, More Alien Than Aliens is mostly based on acoustic instruments with the aid of few analogue synthetizers. You can hear antique rites being consumed around fires at night, cavemen’s invocations and signs of extraterrestrial life as seen by the anc…

Hazy Light' is the new album from ByMyDelay, the solo project of Marcella Riccardi (Blake/e/e/e, Franklin Delano, Massimo Volume), singer and guitarist. Her interest in archaic blues, guitar loops and delays was the main inspiration for her first album 'ToTheOtherSide?', released on Boring Machines in 2011. The new album, entitled 'Hazy Lights', is a more stripped down affair. Most of the loopers and delays have been put aside, in favour of a more organic and simple texture of light arpegg…

The Between the elements Quadrilogy began in 2007 as a collaboration among the well-known industrial master Maurizio Bianchi/MB and the experimental musician Matteo Uggeri. Kapnos (‘smoke’) followed in 2009, as a collective effort by Meerkat, “the Italy's finest in the fields of ambient, electronics, microsound, post guitar” (as Frans De Waard wrote…
Mindblowing!!! Simon Balestrazzi should need no introduction. He founded T.A.C. (Tomografia Assiale Computerizzata) in 1982 and has bee pioneering the italian industrial scene since then. His passion for sound synthesis and exploration brought him in recent years to develop a research in electro-acoustics, both in duos, trios and also in solo.
From the initial sonic assault of “Apocryphal” to the final “Wrong Affection”, the five tracks guide the listener through shades of early nineties electric blues (think Palace, Songs:Ohia and fellows), sixties psichedelia flavoured from the spirit of Skip Spence. Rella's singing is rich, intense and perfumed, sometimes plunged into deep trance, like in “Are You Expired?” or “Wrong Affection” where instruments and voice rise together in a psichedelic unison building from a country-like ope…
The Golden Undertow opens with the gaunt “Dead Starâ€Â, a short and intense song with just few guitar notes and his voice. Both when singing accompaining himself with sparse guitar notes (“A Forest Journeyâ€Â, “My Shipâ€Â, “Fiveâ€Â) or creating gentle psichedelic epicness with the effort of friends on violin, drums and other instruments (â€ÂBonoboâ€Â, “Drugtime Familyâ€Â) Rella prove to have learned the lesson well with an inspired album that s…
The work of Claudio Rocchetti is a deep plunge into thick sound, investigating its innermost workings. Using a variety of devices such as turntables, audio cassettes, samplers, radios, and microphones, often incorporating other objects and traditional instruments, Berlin-based Rocchetti builds compelling structures that employ sound as sheer matter, mass, and impact. The tarry, mesmerizing hues that characterize his “music objects” are grounded in layers of sound detritus. From techno rhythms to …
