The Cabildos are among the most mysterious authors of library music of the 1970s. All that is known is that they took their name from a certain Johnny Cabildo, an Italian keyboardist and composer living in Florida, author of all the tracks of the only three albums given to the presses: “Yuxtaposición” (1972, under the name Cabildo's Three), this second LP “Cross Fire” (1974) and the last “Where Is the Cat?“ (1979). The Cabildos' compositions were all instrumental and full of groove, steeped in Latin, funk fusion sounds, often further enhanced by Afro/tribal percussion. They were originally made for use in films, documentaries, and commercials and thus belong to the world of songs. “Cross Fire” is distinguished in particular by a remarkable variety of sounds, made with the sole aid of bass, drums and keyboards. An excellent album, reissued by Redi Editions in transparent red vinyl, with faithful reproduction of the original artwork.
