A diagonal chance encounter – chromatic undergrowth blossoming to a myriad tints of inner weatherings. Formations, fields, densities gather and dissipate. Outwards inverted, spiralling across. Orange dawn flowers upon the temple of the addicts. Radiating motionless fire. Sipping the morphium of the aether. Choir of the undertow and the roots of the air. Ljubljana-based piano player Neža Naglič (1984) devoted herself to exploring extended piano techniques in the context of free improvised music after her classical training. In addition to string preparation, she focuses on sounding the piano from the inside, using various objects to transform the typical sound of the piano into radical and less predictable sound structures. In Slovenia she has shared stage with renowned local and international improvisers such as Irena Z. Tomažin, Ilia Belorukov, Ana Kravanja, Okkyung Lee, Dimitra Lazaridou-Chatzigoga, Klaus Filip, Jošt Drašler or Seijiro Murayama.
Primož Bončina (1981) is a Slovenian musician and composer, working primarily with electric guitar and synthesis, whose sound was described as 'the shimmer of decay' by The Wire magazine. His practice is informed by minimalist electronic music, traditions of synthesis and tape music, sound phenomenologies through microtonalities and distortion timbres, and formative experiences with heavy music. He is currently pursuing an ongoing series of longform tonal pieces for guitar and electronics. He is the curator of Cloudchamber Recordings.
