"The current release consists of the Schindler-Damon Smith-Sandy Ewen trio and the friends I have brought in: Karina Erhard from Munich, Jaap Blonk from the Netherlands, Sebastiano Tramontana from Sicily. The three concerts are from my presentation format LowToneStudies. I have been organizing my concerts myself for many years, financing them myself, as the music and sound art that I prefer is completely ignored in Munich, the richest city in Germany. Not only in terms of support in many respects, but also in terms of visitor numbers. So it's all the more gratifying that world-class musicians seek contact, want to play, put artistic qualities above economic ones.

The three MunichSoundStudies 4, 5 and 6 were recorded in various locations in Munich. They are all live recordings. I deliberately invited three different musicians in order to be able to create a broad spectrum of creative improvised music. I also change my instruments from concert to concert. All the quartet recordings are premieres, including my collaboration with Sandy Ewen, who brought Damon to Germany, who both made the journey to Moers for the Whitsun Festival, who covered the travel costs, which made the project possible. I have been playing together with the three complementary protagonists on an irregular basis for many years, much of which is documented on CD, video and download. I would also like to mention that the instrument maker Alexander Grünert always provides excellent instruments for the concerts of external double bassists, which consistently inspire the double bassists and, above all, the realization is only possible because the friendly Schauer family provides my guests with an apartment during their stay in Munich." - Udo Schindler
