The idea behind this recording session was to establish a parallel perspective able to reflect the time-structural displacement in the making of spontaneous music. Curran plays his wide range of samples and pre-processes them in real time. This results in the first two layers of sound. The unprocessed samples are captured in real time and processed by Sciajno through his Max/MSP patches. This generates two other layers of sound. Two more layers are then added by Sciajno, generating sound with other patches. Other Cities is not an improvised recording session, but a composition by Sciajno, done using Curran’s samples, playing piano.
