*2023 stock* “Textures and Pulsations” is a multilayered sonic meeting between two gifted and imaginative pianist/composers, Aruán Ortiz and Bob Gluck. With two pianos and poignantly etched live electronics, this pair crafts a mélange of subtly shifting textures, lyrical melodies, and engaging grooves. This collection of carefully articulated, highly virtuosic improvisations is a study in contrast, offering moments of subtlety and power. Musical moods range from wild flights of pianistic fantasy to placid landscapes of sonic color, each delightfully expansive and rich in detail. A palpable chemistry melds the individual skills and intelligence of these musicians, rewarding the listener with constant surprises. "Textures and Pulsations" offers music that will engage a wide variety of listeners, from lovers of abstraction and musical adventure, to those who appreciate a great, syncopated beat.

From Bob and Aruan: "The album is an account of a wonderful experience we had improvising together, with two pianos, a computer, and Moog synthesizer on stage. It took place in a live concert setting, preceded the day before by an afternoon rehearsal. The goal was to be open to the moment, sometimes responding to one another (or not!), and at other times intuitively merging into a single multilayered, unfolding texture, and following where it took us. All electronic processing and synthesized sequences were performed live. We allowed ourselves to freely draw upon any, all, or none of the various musical traditions that we each know and love. After the concert, we both said: 'let’s do this again!' We hope that you’ll find the results as engaging and maybe even surprising as we did during that special evening concert."
