This is the complete soundtrack – music, dialogue, sounds – of Jean-Luc Godard’s Nouvelle Vague, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 1990. "In making this film," Godard said at a press conference later that year, "I heard a great deal of music; music produced by Manfred Eicher. I can well imagine how musicians are inspired and influenced by these sounds. And I too have immersed myself in this music, and I have felt,in my work, like a musician." Interviewed at the Toronto Film Festival of 19…
For the 2023 British Textile Biennial, collaborative artists Nick Jordan and Jacob Cartwright created a new film, Larksong, and textiles installation, in Goodshaw Chapel - a nonconformist Baptist chapel established by textile workers and farm labourers in 1760. With the chapel as a central leitmotif, the film captures the surrounding landscape of cloughs, rivers and moorlands, laced with the remnants and imprints of the textile workers and industries that shaped the environment.

The Anthology Spectra Ex Machina brings together rare documents pertaining to so-called occult phenomena, most of them taken from little-known archives. In the course of three volumes, this series traces an audio history of parapsychology through the exploration of spiritualism and haunted houses (vol. 1); musician mediums (vol. 2); experiences of extrasensory perceptions (clairvoyance, psychokinesis, etc.) and electronic voice phenomena (vol. 3). Originally released in 1962 "Dance, Sing & Listen" was Haack's debut album. Following instructions from children dance teacher Esther Nelson the album comes as a hyper-eclectic work based on a great variety of sound material. A hybrid soup of medieval, country, classical, and pop styles including tons of electronic effects, guitars, banjos and other acoustic string ins…

**Deluxe Edition, 200 copies on clear vinyl, Stoughton Tip-on gatefold cover** "'This is the story of a man, marked by an image from his childhood.' Thus begins, with deceptive simplicity, Chris Marker's La Jetée (1962). The film, by far Marker's bestknown work, synthesizes many of the elusive filmmaker's central preoccupations -- time and memory, power and resistance, the ephemerality and resilience of love -- yet it also undermines the very idea of film. Composed almost entirely of still photo…
The Fevered Rantings of a Delusional Madman? Or… The Profound Musings of a Stand-Up Tragedian? You decide. Here, reissued for the very first time, are the seminal recordings of Brother Theodore. Theodore was a staple of late-night talk shows like the Late Night With David Letterman show, a denizen of dubious ‘70s exploitation films such as the ‘Jaws’ sex-parody GUMS and the disco-vampire flick Nocturna, onetime Chess Champion of New York City and alleged offspring of Albert Einstein. Whether rav…

Ken Nordine’s debut LP from 1957, Word Jazz, belongs to two histories. While interconnected, one is momentary - capturing the close and incredibly important alignment between jazz and poetry that emerged during the 1950s and 60s - while the other is transient and progressive, belonging to a continuum that still exists today. It stands alongside similar albums like those capturing Jack Kerouac’s work with Steve Allen, Kenneth Rexroth and Lawrence Ferlinghetti’s collaborations with The Cellar Jazz…
