"La donna della domenica" is a 1975 Italian- and French-produced crime film directed by Luigi Comencini and starring Marcello Mastroianni, Jacqueline Bisset and Jean-Louis Trintignant. The soundtrack of this film, composed, orchestrated and conducted by Ennio Morricone, highlights the typical elements of the Maestro's style, and is mainly made up of a beautiful main theme and numerous variations, alternating with more pressing moments, perfect for a detective film, evoking the atmosphere of "Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion" or "Milan Hates: The Police Can't Shoot," two films for which Morricone himself wrote the soundtrack a few years earlier. Mystery, tension and melancholy are the main features of this excellent work.
At the time only one 45 rpm was released for "La donna della domenica" with the film's theme and "Torino di notte" as the B-side, and only in 2008 was the entire soundtrack finally released on CD; this is therefore the very first vinyl version of this soundtrack! Audio remastered by Claudio Fuiano.
