*2024 stock. 250 copies limited edition* Born in 1964, Tetuzi Akiyama is a guitarist/improviser active inside and outside Japan. Masahide Tokunaga, who was born in 1982, is an always-original alto sax player. Masatake Abe, born in 1993, is an innovative electric bass player on the jazz/improvised music scene. These three musicians of different generations performed together at Ftarri, Tokyo, on June 6, 2021. This CD contains two improvised pieces (about 25 minutes each) from that concert.
This is the final release in a 3-CD series of live recordings documenting performances by Tetuzi Akiyama at Ftarri in 2021. Each CD features a cover drawing by artist Shigeo Mizuta. The other two titles in the series are "Odd Jobs Are the High Road of Work" (ftarri-967), with Akiyama and Ryotaro Miyasaka, and "Metaphor of Metamorphosis" (ftarri-966), with Akiyama and Leo Okagawa.
Akiyama’s subtly sharp acoustic guitar sounds, the intense long tones of Tokunaga’s alto sax, and the multicolored sounds produced with changing playing techniques on Abe’s electric bass, connect to create music that captivates from start to finish. This outstanding album is a worthy conclusion to the Akiyama trilogy.
